{Chapter 11}

Daisy, Melinda, and Aaron arrived at the morgue to view the two bodies. Aaron walked in front of the mother and daughter towards the mortician. The mortician turned to them and gave them a welcoming smile, "I'm Doctor Burr, you are here for the two bodies correct?" Aaron nodded, "Yes." Burr gestured over to two tables that held the bodies. He began to explain everything about them as he ripped the cloth off one of them, "Both of them were shot and tortured. They seem to have been held in freezing temperatures for a long time." Daisy looked at the lifeless body on the table with horror in her eyes. She couldn't stay looking at these bodies any longer and walked out of the room. Melinda and Aaron looked at the door that she left out of, then to each other, then back to the doctor.

Novice Agent

Melinda and Aaron soon walked out of the morgue to see Daisy sitting in the back of the car. The mother looked at her daughter with worry and concern, as the man next to her worried for the both of them. The two get to the car and get in the silent car as no one made one move to talk. Daisy began to make conversation, "Hotch, you have a son, right? What's his name?" Melinda looked at the man next to her who was driving. He looked at Daisy in the rear view mirror before looking back at the road. He smiled at the thought of his son, "Jack." Daisy was messing with the necklace that Spencer got her as she asked him something, "Does he know what you do for a living?" Aaron sighed and nodded, "He does." Daisy frowned at the thought of his son knowing what he does for a living, imagining the thoughts of his dad not coming home. "How old is he?" Daisy asked and Aaron looked at her in the rear view mirror again as he answered, "Eight. You should meet him, both of you should." Melinda asked him a question this time, "Have a picture of him?" Aaron took his phone as he looked at the road and handed it to Melinda. She looked confused that he just gave his phone to her, but turned it on to see a little boy as his wallpaper. She couldn't help but smile at the little boy before handing the phone to Daisy. Her daughter grabbed it and smiled as well, "What a cutie!" Aaron smiled lightly at the thought of the mother-daughter duo meeting his son. He looked over at Melinda as she was taking the phone from Daisy before handing it back to him. "What did Daisy look like when she was younger?" Melinda pulled her wallet out of her pocket and pulled a picture from it. She showed it to him as he looked at it but also kept watch on the road. He smiled and looked at Daisy in the mirror, "You look so cute!" Daisy smiled at the compliment before leaning her head back against the seat. Melinda put the picture back in her wallet and looked out the window. The ride was silent for the rest of the way back to the station.

Novice Agent

The team all meet back at the station to give what they have found. Daisy walked over to stand next to her mother as she wanted to protect her. "Prentiss and I found that both of the women were very liked. Did anything to protect their kids." Derek explains as David gesture to JJ and Melinda, "We have two mothers on the team that match." JJ smiled at the mention as Daisy hugged her mother from behind and kept holding onto her the whole time. Melinda pat her daughter's hand as she continued to listen. "Same with us." Spencer agreed to what Emily and Derek found. Aaron looked to the team, "Well, we found out that the women were shot and frozen." Daisy tightened her hold on her mother making her know why she was acting the way she is. She knew that she would have to talk to her sometime soon about how she is feeling. "Anyone that connects them?" Melinda asks and David placed a photo down in front of the team, "The teacher. Mr. Marion Caine. He is the teacher of the each of the kids." Derek grabbed his phone and announced, "Calling Garcia." Melinda and Daisy looked confused at the mention of the new person. Aaron noticed and explained who she was, "Penelope Garcia is the technical analyst for the team. Her and Morgan have a special connection like no other." They both nodded as to say they understood what he was talking about. Derek pulled his phone out of his pocket and called the tech savvy woman, "Hey Baby girl." Derek put his phone on speaker so everyone can hear her. Daisy looked at her mom with a confused look on her face only for her mother to shrug with a slight look of amusement. "Hey Handsome." Penelope greeted back and he began to introduce the mother-daughter duo to her, "First, I want to introduce our two newest agents, Melinda and Daisy May, but Daisy uses the last name Johnson." It was then that everyone realized that they were video calling as Derek pointed the phone to the mother-daughter duo. Penelope gasped when she saw the two and sat forward in her chair, "The Destroyer of Worlds and The Calvary. Pleasure to be chatting with you. I am Penelope Garcia, the technical analyst of the team and both of you are welcome to my dungeon anytime." Daisy couldn't help but already like this woman as she was different then everyone on the team. Melinda was tensing up by the mention of the name she was given after a traumatic case, but it softened by how welcoming the woman was. "How did you know about my title?" Daisy asks confused making Penelope giggle at the young woman and began to explain to the two, "I know about SHIELD and I know about the powerful ladies in it. Morgan had already mentioned two SHIELD agents being a part of the team and he described you two, so I immediately knew who you two were." Aaron was quick to bring back their attention, "Let's get back on the case."

Novice Agent

Melinda and David were sent to get Marion Caine as he has a connection with the two victims. They get to the door only for it to be already open making David grab his gun. Melinda, who hadn't done the gun test yet, didn't have one and just followed with a defensive position. They get into the house and see that Marion Caine was killed. David looked at his partner with his phone in hand, "I'll call the team over." She nodded as she began to look around the house for anything that can help them with the case. David walked out of the house as she headed upstairs to the second floor. She walked into one room and looked around until she heard something in the closet. Her head shoots to the door and cautiously moved closer. The floorboards under her feet creaked with each step she took as she gets to the door. Her hand raised to the door knob and opened it, only for her to get punched in the face by the Unsub. She staggered back before she started to fight back. He went to punch her, again only for her to catch his arm and push him away from her. He ran back at her and managed to push her into the body mirror against the door, breaking it. Melinda groaned as she fell to the floor as he ran off. He made it down the stairs but didn't know that she wasn't alone as he saw David and the whole team with their guns raised at him. He gave up and surrendered himself and Derek arrested him. Daisy looked at David and everyone else with fear in her eyes, "Where's my mom?" David gestured up, "Upstairs." Daisy's eyes widened and rushed up the stairs with the team following close behind. They all split up to find her and Derek was the one to have found her. She was clutching her head as he ran over to her, "Hey, you alright?" She nodded lightly, "Yeah, he slammed me into a mirror." Derek knelt down next to her, "C'mon." He helped her stand up and walk out of the room as Daisy ran to help as well. Eventually the whole team knew where she was and was worried about her. "Mom! Are you alright?!" Daisy asks and Melinda was quick to reply, "I'm fine." However, Derek was quick to tell them what she told him, "Unsub pushed her into the body mirror." JJ gasped as Emily covered her mouth, Spencer looked at Melinda with care as Aaron ran to her. He moved her hair away from the wounds on her face, which were lined down the side of her face. "You need to be examined." Aaron tells her and she shook her head and declined what he was telling her, "No, I don't! I'm fine!" Aaron then scolded her for denying his wishes, "You're not fine! You can't stand up correctly!" Melinda rolled her eyes at how protective he is towards her right now. Daisy couldn't help but smirk at Spencer as they, and the rest of the team, were watching the interaction with amusement. A paramedic soon came in and walked towards the team, "Is she ok?" Derek looked at her, "Unsub pushed her into a body mirror." Medic moved to the woman and looked at her head and turned to Aaron, "Doesn't seem like he damaged her too much." Melinda gestured to her, "See?" Aaron rolled his eyes at how she is acting right now and knew that he has to talk to her. The paramedic then looked at the woman with a light smile, "We will have to patch up her cheek than you all are good to go." Melinda groaned lightly and followed the medic outside to the ambulance. Everyone followed to make sure that she didn't run away. Derek looked to Daisy with a question that he is dying to know, "Can your mom fight?" Daisy nodded, "Yeah. I watched her take down some serious people." Emily looked at her with amusement, "Really?" Daisy nodded again, "Yeah. Just wait, y'all will see it soon." Melinda finished getting checked over, due to Aaron's command, and patched up before she headed back over to everyone. Daisy walked over to her and hugged her side that wasn't hit. "C'mon, we have a perp to investigate." Aaron tells them. Everyone headed towards the cars and began their way to the station. They arrive back at the station and Melinda's phone went off making her hurry to answer it, "Hello?" Strauss was the one that called her and the call seemed very serious, "Hello, Agent May." Melinda tensed at who was on the phone making everyone worry about who was on the phone. Daisy walked over to her mother, extremely worried for what was wrong. Melinda put her phone on speaker so everyone can hear what was going on. "It has come to my attention that you left on a mission that hasn't been approved by SSA Jennifer Jareau. Is she there?" Strauss asks. JJ went to walk over to talk, Melinda placed a hand up stopping her. JJ looked at everyone wondering what she was going to do and if she was allowed to do that to her, her boss. Aaron went to take the phone from Melinda, but she did the same thing to him. "Listen, ma'am, I was given a chance to work in the field. I don't know if you remember but I was, and still am, a SHIELD agent. I think it goes without saying that I should've been a field agent from the start, but the only job you had left was an assistant. If there is anyone to blame it should be me. I have been very reckless and the reason that is to be close to my daughter. Fire me, if you have to, but just know that I am the reason I am on this case, not SSA Jennifer Jareau or Aaron Hotchner." Once she finished it was silent for a moment as Strauss thought about what needed to be done. Strauss sighed as she began to tell her what needs to be done, "You are hereby fired. Not just because of this case that you disobediently attended but you have been reckless. Your daughter's first undercover case, you came to the location without Miss Jareau's approval. After this case is done, you are to return everything, understood?" Daisy looked at her mother along with the team waiting for her response. "Understood."
