{Chapter 7}

Melinda arrived at the building where agents from her organization are being controlled. An agent, named Agent Brown, saw her and walked over with a solemn smile. He was gesturing to the man next to him, "Nice to see you Agent May. This man, Joseph, is explaining to us on what happened." Joseph began to explain what was happening as he lead them to the front of the building, "The Welcome Wagon arrived and a woman walked by with a bunch of men. A little girl was taken along with them. Her power seems to only affect men. I believe you will have to go in alone." Melinda nodded, "Thank you. Did you get all the civilians away?" Joseph nodded, "Yes. They are a way to a quiet area for now." Melinda nodded as she walked over to the agent and lead him to the back of the building. She saw a balcony with a door open and Brown looked at her curiously, "What are you going to do?" Melinda gestured to the front door where everyone else is, "I can't exactly walk straight in. They'll immediately go after me. I'm going to go in a different way." She stepped back from the building before she ran and jumped to grab onto the railing of the balcony. She got up as Brown looked at her curiously again, "Do you need a weapon?" Melinda shook her head, "I'll be fine. Go back with the others."  Brown nodded and ran off as Melinda walked against the wall, so her shadow wouldn't be seen by the people inside. She saw the shadow of a man go by and grabbed him and he fought against her grip, only for her to crack his neck rendering him unconscious. She opens another door to see a man right there making her punch him in the face causing him to almost fall down the stairs, if Melinda didn't catch him in time. She saw a door and opened it and there was a man standing there back facing her. "Hey! You got to get out of here!" Melinda whispered out to him but he responded like he was in a trance, "I can't. It's too dangerous out there." The man turned towards her and pulled out a gun to aim at her. Melinda's eyes widened and kicked the gun out of his hand, then grabbed him forcing him and turning him to face the wall. "What are you doing?! We have to go!" The man just responded with, "I need your pain." She was confused on what he said as it meant nothing at all, then heard movement behind her making her know that she wasn't alone with him. "I need your pain." All the people controlled said in unison. Melinda turned her head over her shoulder, still having a grip on the man's body, to see a bunch of other men with guns. She grabbed a zip tie and pushed the man towards all the other men, giving her the chance to run. She moved the hatch to keep the door shut, but used the zip tie to keep it secure for a little time. She then hears a gunshot making her back her body against a wall and sees a bullet hole in the door. She knew she has to take that woman down and so she began running down the stairs by the door she entered from, and began attacking the men that heard she was there. She punched, kicked, thrown, and knocked the men unconscious. A man surprised her and pushed her through a door where the woman and the girl was. Melinda took the man down and then faced the woman. "I want your pain." Ava tells her and Melinda goes to attack the woman, not before she was thrown to the other side of the room. She groaned in pain and looked up to see the child hiding behind a stack of crates. Seeing the fear on her face, made her think it was Daisy and knew that she couldn't let anything happen to her. She got up and faced the woman as she grabbed a chandelier ready to attack her. The woman yells and swings the chandelier at her, only for Melinda to dodge. The chandelier broke, making the woman let go of it. The woman then kicked Melinda across the room again, as a man ran over to her and began punching and kicking her, with a gun in his hand. Melinda grabbed a lamp that was standing close by and broke the lampshade off, along with the light bulb and broke the end of it before swinging it at the man. The man's arm was connected to the post before Melinda moved it only for the man to shoot her knee. She screamed in pain before knocking him fully out. The woman walked over and punched her in the face knocking her down but not out. Melinda moved the sharp end of the lamp post into the woman's stomach, killing her. The woman yelped in pain before dying as men, who were still under her control, kept coming. Melinda looked at the men who were taken control of with a pleasing look, "She's dead! Snap out of it!" She winced as she tried to stand up, but her knee wasn't having it. Then Katya then came out of hiding with an angry look, "You killed her!" Melinda looked up at the child as she moved a hand down making a man pass out. Then she moved both hands down as the same happened with two other men. "I like the pain. There's so much pain. I'm scared. I want to leave. Take my hand. I can take your pain away." Katya told her with her hand held out to Melinda making her back up with her hands, seeing as her legs aren't the best option. Melinda looked at the child with a pleading look, "Put your hand down and stop." The girl saw some of the agents making her look over. She gasped and looked at the child, "Don't hurt them. Put your hand down and stop this." Melinda backed up one more time and found the gun that one of the men dropped. She slyly picked it up in her hand and kept it behind her until she was ready to use it. "Everything is going to be alright." Melinda tells the child

Daisy walked out of building with her phone in hand as she was about to call her mother. She was terrified, concerned, and worried about her as she had to deal with a very interesting mission. She took her phone and pressed call on her mom's contact and placed her phone to her ear. She began to pace as she worried that her mother wouldn't answer then relaxed when she answered. "Hello?" Daisy immediately asked questions with urgency, "Mom! You ok? Are you hurt?" Melinda smiled at her daughter's worry, "I'm fine. Few cuts and bruises, but i'm fine." Daisy was glad to have her mother back and sighed with relief, "Thank god. I'm coming to get you if Hotch says it's ok! We are in Spain as well!" Melinda knew that she would get in trouble if she just went so she wanted to end the call quick, "Alright. Make sure it is ok for you to do this. I don't want you to get in trouble." Daisy frowned when she hung up as she walked back towards the team. David noticed her expression and looked at her with acknowledgement and concern, "Everything alright?" The team looked at her, now knowing that she is here, with curious looks of concern. They may not know Melinda like that, especially since the first case where they made assumptions, but they know that the mother-daughter duo was probably the strongest bond on the team. "She's ok but something concerns me. She hung up on me, which she never has done before, after I told her I would go to her." Daisy explained to them and Aaron was quick to deny the idea, "We're in the middle of a case! You can't just leave and get her!" Daisy frowned at his change of emotions all of a sudden. He always liked having Melinda around. "Why not? I'm bringing back another set of eyes to help us!" Daisy told him and Aaron yelled at her, "We don't need another set of eyes! We have this all under control!" Derek scowled at Aaron when he saw the look on Daisy's face, "Hotch!" Daisy looked down with an upset face before storming off, as she was going to get her mother with or without his permission. She managed to take the keys out of Derek's pocket then went down to the vans in the parking lot. She got in and drove off to get her mother, hoping she was alright.

  Melinda limped out of the building as she was shot in the knee which she kept away from Daisy. When she walked out, she saw Phil waiting for her with sunglasses on and his hands clasped together. He took off his sunglasses and put them away to help her get away from the building. He wrapped her arm around his shoulder and wrapped one of his around her waist before he leaned her against the side of the building. "You ok?" Phil whispered and she muttered in response, "I couldn't save her. She didn't know what she was doing." Phil sighed and whispered to her, "You did the best you could. Now, let the girl go." That was when all her emotions came out, she started to sob into his chest as he held her. He held her head as a way to comfort her as she cried, as he watched as the agents and soldiers returned back to their families. Melinda sniffled and pulled away as a van pulled up and Daisy got out. She ran over to her mother, who pretended that everything was ok, and hugged her. Melinda tried not to groan in pain as her knee was hurt but still hugged her. "I'm so glad you're ok! Hotch wouldn't let me come get you but I came anyway. I love you." Daisy tells her as she had tears in her eyes while she hugged her mother for the first time in a couple of months. Melinda tensed a bit as she hugged her daughter but allowed herself to hug her. With what happened just moments ago, she was feeling not herself anymore and it was scaring her to have to do what she has to, to heal. Melinda pulled away from her and gave her a light smile as she didn't want to smile as much anymore. "Come on! I bet the team wants to see you!" Daisy tells her not seeing the change in her mother's personality. Daisy held her hand out towards her mother and Melinda flinched when she looked at her hand, because all she could see was the little girl's hand reaching out to her. That was when Daisy noticed something happened to her mother and was going to ask later when they were alone. Melinda walked over to the van but to the passenger side because she didn't know where they were going. Daisy then realized Phil was there and smiled at him before pulling him into a hug, "I am so glad to see you!" Phil smiled and looked at her with care, "I am too. I hope that May is alright. Keep an eye on her for me?" She smiled, "Always." Daisy walked over to the van where her mother was waiting and got in. She started to drive off to the station they were currently at and the whole ride was silent. Melinda hadn't made one move the whole ride which was starting to worry Daisy. They got to the station and both of them got out as the team came outside to see Melinda. "Agent May! Are you ok?" Melinda didn't answer as she was hugging herself and was looking at the ground. Daisy placed a hand on her back making her flinch again making her daughter hurry to remove her hand. The team noticed the same thing Daisy did as well and hoped that she will be alright. Melinda calmed down and walked inside the building with the team close to her. When she walked in, cheering and applauding was heard around the whole room scaring her, "Calvary! Calvary! Calvary!" Melinda started to shake rapidly from all that was going on in her mind and out of her mind, making Daisy drag her out of the room and to a quiet room. The team wanted to follow but knew that what Melinda was experiencing isn't going to change with them all around her. They knew that they have to give her time alone.
