Have you ever kissed a star?
Craned your neck up to the
heavens, pressed your lips to
the flaming core, so white-hot you
saw sparks behind your closed
eyes, nebulae enfolding ethereal
petals of vaporous dust and ionized
gasses about you, until finally you, too,
combusted brilliant from the inside
out, your mind expanding to
encompass the universe, the
Milky Way galaxy drifting through
you, whirling about your departing
ego, almost in a dance, shed like
so much orbital debris, beginning
its own hero's journey, perhaps
to evolve into another you,
somewhere else, but you pay
it no mind, content instead to
witness the music of the spheres.
