11. Tête-à-Tête

In a record time Imlie pulls in infront of the Rathore Mansion. Before she could get down Aryan holds her hand and says - "You exceeded my expectations" giving him a small smile she gets down and enters the house, followed by Aryan.

Seeing them enter the house, Narmada and Arpita sighs in relief,

"Imlie tu thik hai" - Arpita asks, pulling Imlie close to her.
(Are you okay?)

"Hum ekdum phine hai. Baas bhuk laagi hai"
(I'm absolutely fine. Only a little hungry)

"Arre hun dono ko bhi bhot bhuk lagi thi, isiliye ata waqt phone karke bol diya tha. Khana ready hai chal" - Narmada prompts (We were also feeling, so on the way home, I called and told them to make something. Let's go dinner is ready)

While they were having dinner, putting on a puppy dog eyes Imlie looks at them and
says - "Kakima kal raat ka khana hum banaye pleaze, bohut maan karta hai"
(Kakima can I please make tomorrow's dinner)

Smiling at her antics they answered - "Bana lena, iss mein kya hai. Pagli"
(Silly girl. Ofcourse you can)

Arpita quips- "Waise Imlie, kya banay gi"
(What will you make)

"Humri haat ka special, dal chawal, moti roti, aur pyaaz ka achar" - saying this she looks at Aryan
(I'll make my special Dal, Chawal, Moti Roti and Onion pickle)

"Mein 8 baje ke baad carbs nahi khata. So mein nahi kaunga" - states the Great Akarbagga
(I don't eat carbs after 8 so I won't have it)

"Toh maat khana. Imlie mein aur Maa khayenge, tu iss UNB ko chor iss baas abs banane hai. Gadha" - banters Arpita (Then don't have. Don't worry Imlie Mom and I'll have it. He is an idiot)

She smiles at them and then shares a intense eye-lock with him.

After trying to coax herself to sleep for almost an hour, Imlie gets up and sits on the bed. And check the clock. It's almost 1a.m.. Though she is tired, there are too many things running through her mind. Many incidents that happened throughout the day have left her with more questions than answers. She decides to go to the terrace thinking the cool night air might help her relax.

Reaching there she sees Aryan standing leaning on the parapet wall of the terrace.

Sensing someone behind him Aryan turns around, only to find Imlie - "Tumhe bhi neend nahi arahi hai"
(Even you aren't able to sleep)

Heaving a sigh she answers - "Nahi" (No)

He beckons her to come closer. As she stands next to him, he drapes his arms around her and she leans her head on his shoulder - "Kya huya Junglee. Kya Mr. Tripathi ya Ms. Chaturvedi ki baaton ko soch rahi ho"
(Junglee what happened. Are you upset about something said by Mr. Tripathi or Ms. Chaturvedi)

"Nahi ABP. Uuh dono wahi karat rahi jon humka umeed rahi unn se. Aab Aditya Sir, Malini Didi ya Anu Ji se koi farak nahi parta hai hume. Paar bakio ne bina bole bohot itne sare sawal kiya jo chahke bhi dimag se nahi nikal pa rahi hoon"
(No Aditya Sir and Malini Didi are too predictable these days. Nothing they do or say hurts me anymore. Just a few unasked questions from Tripathi's are clogging my mind. I tried to get them out of my mind but it's not working)

"Kaisa sawal" (What questions)

"Aaj uus ghar Maa ko chorke humare parivartan se kono khush nahi tha. Rupi Didi aur Nishant Bhaiya bhi nahi. Wo dono humka jon-jon sawal karat rahi woh hum unn dono se kabho umeed nahi karta rahi. Jaab hum Angrezi mein bolat rahi, tab unn sabko dekhhe aisna laag ki hum kono paap karat rahi. Jaab hum Mrs. Chaturvedi ko muh pe jawab dewat rahi Maa ke alawa kono khush nahi the humse. ABP, agar aaj tum, Kakima aur Arpita Didi wahan nahi hota toh aaj phir hum haar jate" saying this she breaks down into his arms
(Today in that house except Maa, no-one was happy with my sudden changes, not even Rupi Didi and Nishant Bhaiya. Those two asked me those questions, I never expected them to ask. When I were conversing in fluent English, the look on everyone's face made me feel as if I committed a sin, when I answered back to Mrs. Chaturvedi it felt like none took my changes happily except for Maa. ABP, if not for you, Kakima and Arpita Didi being there today, I would had lost again)
