Have you ever needed some uwu's in your life? If so, I hope you enjoy me shining a light on Pixie and Brutus by Pet Foolery.

Summary

Whoever says cats and dogs can't get along has never seen Pixie and Brutus. Ever since the cute little kitten Pixie walked through his door, the wethered dog Brutus decides he's going to watch over her. Good news is he'll have an entire neighborhood worths of fellow pets to help him.

Characters

Pixie: The face of the webtoon. Pixie's exuberant youth makes her highly energetic, imaginative, and optimistic. However, her good nature leads her naive about the world, often misinterpreting what she says. Leading her to get into some reckless activities.

Brutus: A scarred-up war dog, Brutus has seen a lot. He shares a very father-like relationship with Pixie. He's incredibly intelligent, grizzled and protective of those under his care. He acts like a straight man to most of his neighbors, with frenzied antics.

Overview

For once, this is a webtoon that I don't have much to say about, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Though this webtoon is probably the best example of opposites, attract since Scorching Romance (not saying this is a romantic sense, though). Our two mc's are about as different as you can get, but at the same time, they have a well-established middle ground to reason why they are together.

Brutus is protective, and Pixie is young and adorable, not exactly hard to understand. As long as you have good characters with an interesting dynamic, they could be put into any story while churning out quality. The two portray their genuine love and cuteness directly, and I can't help but get entranced.

Though I do find the standout character here to be Brutus, he always provides some of the funniest lines as the only one with common sense, and his story, when revealed, is very tragic. However, if you aren't mesmerized by the title characters, we get a fun cast of side characters.

Other animals like Randal the Racoon, Mr. Wrinkles the hairless cat, and the enthusiastic Lola create some pretty funny dynamics. From slapstick, wordplay, and self-references, Pixie and Brutus have it all when it comes to humor. It's been doing its job well since 2020, and I hope that it can continue to.

Epilogue

All in all, Pixie and Brutus is a wholesome webtoon that provides bright light to me on tough days. Pet Foolery also seems to have another webtoon on file so we may mention that in the future. I know this isn't the most elaborate of my spotlights, but I'm sure we can delve a little deeper with whatever the light shines on next.
