I'm Fine if I'm With You

"Of course, maybe I'll even serenade you while I'm at it."

"You say that as if I'd hate it. I'd only hate it if you keep singing me stupid Disney songs."

The drive to their apartment is short and playfull as they banter, though George grows quiet as he slowly evens out his breathing and takes small sips of water, trying not drink to fast and end up making himself sick.

They head inside, George going to take a shower right away. His after practice showers are usually shorter, so Dream knows he can start preparing dinner now.

He loves what he has learned about his boyfriend, now that their roommates. Like how George takes the longest showers after a big game, and hates taking them in the morning. Or how George refuses to wear shoes around the house but wouldn't be caught dead outside in anything other than sneakers or cleats, because he hates flip flops and sandals. Or how he always drinks out of mugs, even if it's soda or orange juice.

Dream is seasoning two pieces of thin steaks when George sits down at the counter, resting his head on his hand as he watches Dream.

That was another thing that Dream loved, how they always watched eachother. As if analyzing eachother was a hobby, they'd sit and watch as the other did homework or cook or drink tea. Dream loved to watch George play soccer, and George loved to watch Dream read or write an essay for his English class.

And as Dream flipped the steak, seasoning the other side and then pushing the plate away for now, the brunette smiled and watched.

The blond got the pan out and put some oil on it, waiting for it to heat up before he put the steaks onto the stove. As they cooked on one side, he grabbed the stuff for salad, as well as George's favorite dressing, and set it all up so he could prepare each of them a bowl.

When the food was done and plated, seldom words exchanged during the process, Dream brought George his plate and sat beside him.

"Thank you, D," George mumbled sleeply, leaning against the tallers shoulder as he ate slowly.

"You better not fall asleep with food in your mouth," Dream chastised, shaking his head fondly.

"As if you don't practically pass out while drinking monsters and doing homework 12 minutes before it's due," George quips, ever the fiesty one.

"Just shut up and eat, don't try to fight me on this one," Dream giggles, rubbing George's back softly.

"You just say that cause I'm right," the brunette says, always having to get the last word in.

They eat together, move to the couch and watch TV together, argue over who's in charge tomorrow for dinner, and fall in bed together to sleep and fully relax after the long day.

Dream taps his pencil on his notebook, biting the inside of his bottom lip as a word sits on the tip of his tounge.

His creative writing class was one of his favorites, but the words he wanted always floated around in his head, drifting just out of reach at the of worst times.

"You look stupid, what are you trying to remember?" George asks, coming over with their drinks that they ordered from the coffee shop inside the library.

"A word, like, a synonym for being aware" He sounds doubtful in himself, feeling lost at such a small word he can't quite get.

"Conscious?" George supplys helpfully.

"That's it! I've been lost for like, two minutes," he sighs in defeat, finally typing the word out and ending the sentence with a period. "I swear I need a dictionary and I need to read the whole thing."
