You could not expect anything less from TIANA MALINOWSKI, her father Anton Malinowski was a successful businessman who worked hard to get where he was today. She grew up golden, glittering in the limelight at the business dinners she attended and talking shop with her father.

Tiana was groomed to take over the Malinowski business, she didn't mind of course thinking that she would be well into her fifties before that day would come and she would have her own child to pass the torch to.

But she had not expected her father to die on the eve of her seventeenth birthday, the doctors ruled it a heart attack. It was rather simple, a man of his age who dined on heavily salted steaks every other night could not have avoided the consequences of his eating habits forever. He died of his own actions, nobody was to blame.

Tiana was a child, she could not deal with the workload, she couldn't do the meetings that started at twelve in the afternoon and would go on until the dark of night. She was drowning beneath the burden, barely able to take in enough air to keep her afloat.

Now she would do anything to get away from it. So she took her mother Vera Malinowski's suggestion to hire an assistant.

When Kaz Brekker heard about how the daughter of the man who helped Pekka Rollins screw him over all those years again is hiring an assistant, he couldn't sit back and let it all unfold without at least giving it a little nudge in the right direction.

Nina Zenik had always been an excellent liar, and it was finally her time to put those skills to good use.

This book technically is Pre-Six Of Crows, so it doesn't follow the show.
