I couldn't put my finger on it.

Oliver and I had been sitting with each other for the past 2 weeks, while Ella had said nothing about why she had left the two of us.

Even if she wanted to talk to me, I didn't want to hear it.

Clearly she thought that she was better than us.

Maybe she had thought it all along, but she just had never said anything.

But Oliver and I were doing great on our own.

We were surviving.

We didn't need Ella telling us what to do all the time.

She used to tell me that my clothes were horrible, my hair should be done a certain way, etcetera.

Now I know why; she wanted to be just like them but because I didn't want to be like them, she left me behind.

She left our childhood behind.

Suddenly, I stopped in my tracks.

The two people I had trusted, had now disappeared from my life.

Oliver was standing with the popular boys group, while Ella was standing beside Mia.

They were all pointing at me, laughing.

Of course, they were.

This was it.

I didn't have anyone to sit with in class or at lunch.

I didn't have anyone anymore.

All of my older brothers were in the older grades, which meant that they were on the other half of the school.

I wanted to go home.

So that's what I did.

I turned off all emotion as I turned around and walked out of those school doors.

They left me; they didn't deserve the reaction that they wanted.

They were going to see what they missed out on.

A decent friend.

A real friend; not a fake one.

So, I changed myself for the better.

I started to not care what people thought about me or my family.

I was a new person.

Not some push over that everyone thought I was.

I wasn't going to be everyone's second choice; the backup.

I wasn't going to be the person that everyone left behind.

I was going to be me, Skylar Miller.

No one was going to stop me.

They brought this on themselves.

 - End of Flashback 1 -

Today was the day.

The day that I was laughed at by everyone.

The day that changed my life for the better.

I found my true friends; and I lost some.

"HEYYY" Molly greeted as she appeared on my right.

It was new week.

I had finally recovered from my injuries last week.

"Hey. What's up?" I responded, as I walked towards my locker, molly trailing beside me.

"Nothing much. You?" she responded, as she was doing little twirls and swinging her arms in the hallway.

Classic Molly.

"I'm alright. Better than what I was" I responded, as I exchanged my books over.

"That's good" and with that, the two of us headed to where the rest of our group meets in the morning.

I wasn't relapsing; I was improving.

I was living the best life with the best people that I could.

I finally had a real smile on my face.

The only thing that could stop me was the winter competition
