"Jonah..."

"Don't." Jonah said, looking down.

"You broke into my consciousness. You don't get to say anything." Kansas stood still as the room rippled away and their surroundings were black.

"I can leave." Kansas finally said.

"I assume you're here for a reason so tell me why you're here." Kansas said nothing.

"So you're going to break into my mind and not tell me why?! What kind of person are you?" Jonah shouted. His voice echoed off the imaginary walls.

"I want to know why you were hesitant earlier." Kansas said, standing tall making sure Jonah knew she was being serious. Jonah ran his fingers through his hair and said,

"YOU BROKE INTO MY MIND BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE MORGLES?! GOD KANSAS!" Kansas flinched at his words. Jonah looked at her and her facial expressions and said softly,

"No, you're here for something else." Kansas crossed her arms and said,

"If you really want to know, I wanted to know why Avyanna chose you to find me."

"Would you've preferred if I wasn't on this mission with you?"

"You know that's not what I meant." Kansas tried to say but Jonah cut her off.

"You want to know why I was chosen?" Jonah said, quietly. Kansas nodded as Jonah's hand closed into fists.

"BECAUSE I WAS THE ONLY DAMN CREATURE ON AVERDALE THAT WANTED TO HELP THE ELDERS FIND YOU. I WAS ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT YOU WERE SMART AND BRAVE, BUT YOU BETRAYED MY TRUST WHEN YOU BROKE INTO MY MIND." Jonah shouted at her. Kansas felt the blackness get pulled away and suddenly she was in a forest.

"Follow me." Jonah commanded as he began to walk through the trees. Kansas followed him quickly and suddenly, in a gap in the trees she saw all the Elders in a circle. Jonah pointed to the memory-Jonah and said,

"This was the day before we met. I was told I needed to go to the Elders meeting so I left my friend Borso and headed here." Suddenly a booming voice coming from a familiar face called,

"ELDERS RISE." The Elders all formed a circle and memory-Jonah walked closer to the Elders. Two of the Elders moved so Jonah was able to see Avyanna.

"Before we start the meeting we are pleased to have an announcement. Jonah, please step forward." Ayanna spoke as memory-Jonah walked between the two Elders and stood tall in the middle of the circle.

"Jonah Smith, you have been chosen." Kansas could see memory-Jonah's face scrunch up as if he was happy but confused.

"What do you mean, chosen?" Memory-Jonah asked.

"You must find the girl Kansas CloudsDale and bring her to us. Her life is in danger as we speak and you are the only one who can get her. She will be the Savior."

"It would be a great honor, but why me?" Memory-Jonah questioned. Avyanna smiled and put a hand on his cheek.

"We have seen you grow up and are proud of the person you have become. We believe you are the man she will trust with this mission."

"I'd be honored."

"That is all. ELDERS FALL." Avyanna shouted. Once she did, most of the Elders turned to smoke and disappeared but Avyanna stayed.

"Jonah." She said, "Be warned; do not trust your heart, only your mind." And she disappeared with the others. Memory-Jonah let out a breath.

"Well, that wasn't what I was expecting to happen." He muttered to himself and walked through the trees. Kansas turned back to Jonah and said,

"I didn't... I couldn't..." Kansas felt the words mix up in her mouth. She felt incapable of talking anymore. The only thing she could say was,

"I'm sorry." Jonah stopped breathing heavily and stood there.

"Sorry?" He asked. Kansas finally had the courage to look him in the eyes and said,

"I'm sorry you were chosen. I'm sorry your parents are dead and I'm sorry that you hate me." Kansas felt tears running down her cheeks slowly but she wiped them away and continued,

"But I'm not sorry I'm friends with you, I'm not sorry that you have had to struggle your entire life because you never had a family but from what I've seen in memories and in real life you do have a family. Xander, Borso, Byron and me. I don't mind if you want to hate me or shout at me but I ask you one thing you must do: you have to promise me you will never leave, that you'll stay." Jonah looked up at her and said,

"How?" Kansas could feel herself losing the consciousness with Jonah so she grabbed him into a hug and whispered in his ear,

"Do you trust me?" She said as Jonah thought for a moment before replying,

"Yes."

"Then trust that I'll do the right thing."
