There were groups around the globe that aimed to exterminate the creatures, trained from young ages to know when a threat was near. This branch of the Argent family were the first group. The ones closest in blood to their ancestors. They had recently moved to the boring town Beacon Hills. Hunter and his siblings — Allison and Jasper — weren't given much information why, only that it was for 'work reasons'. In reality, it was because beacon Hills was a natural beacon for supernatural beings.
