Chapter 6- Prince Charming

Start from the beginning

"Oh cool. I just got home as well, but I'm doing something in a few." She said. I heard ruffling and footsteps.

"Where are you doing?" I asked as I walked to my room and flopped on the bed.

"Well, you see, Jari, Isis, a friend of ours, and myself have a group. We sing, dance, and rap." She told me.

"Okay." I nodded.

"And we perform around New Orleans and different parishes. We are very well known for dancing and singing at parties and schools. We practice in a room in my house that my momma made into a dance studio for us." She said and I could tell she was smiling.

"That's cool. Will you sing for me?" I asked.

"Nope." She said.

"Why not? I'll sing for you." I smiled.

"Sing then." She smirked.

"My girl. My girl, she loves me. I know I'm on her mind even when we don't speak. My girl. My girl, she loves me. She hits me all the time. My phone be ringing off the hook like...yeah. She hit me all the time. My phone be ringing off the hook like....yeah. She hits me all the time." I sang. I didn't hear anything on the other line.

"Artemis? Artemis? Hello? You still there?" I asked.

"Uh...Yeah. I'm still here. Just...." She trailed off not finding the right word.

"Blown away?" I suggested.

"Yeah. I never thought Princeton from Mindless Behavior would be singing for me." She said.

"Your turn to sing." I smirked.

"Some people live for the fortune. Some people live just for the fame. Some people live for the power...yeah. Some people live just to play the game. Some people think that the physical things define what's within. And I've been there before, but that life's a bore. So full of the superficial. Some people want it all, but I don't want nothing at all. If it ain't you baby. If I ain't got you baby. Some people want diamonds rings. Some just want everything, but everything means nothing if I ain't got you. Yeah." Artemis sang and it was my turn to be stunned into silence.

"Hello? Prince?" Artemis asked. "Was it that horrible that you can't even breathe?"

"What? No. You were amazing! I have never heard anything so beautiful. You sound like an angel." I gushed.

"Thanks, but I really have to go. I'll give you a call later, okay? We'll talk about the whole bae thing later." She said.

"Yes ma'am." I smiled before hanging up.

My God. I have never heard anything so beautiful. I have never talked to anyone so....perfect. Yeah. That's what Artemis is. She's perfect. She can sing, dance. She's weird, out going, loud in a good way. She's smart and funny. She's someone I would want my mom to meet-- someone I want my whole family to meet. I can see myself with her forever and ever. Sitting on the front porch of our house with grey hair and our grandchildren running around us. I can see this all so perfectly that it's crazy. Even with the age difference, I can tell nothing will stop us from being together.

This is so crazy to even say we haven't met face-to-face yet.

I sighed happily as my door opened. I looked up to see Roc, Prod, Ray, and Myles standing in my doorway.

"What's up?" I asked as I looked at my ceiling thinking about Artemis.

"Dude, I just wanna say thank you for giving me Isis's number. Whoo! That girl is something else." Roc smiled as he sat on my bed.

"Yeah, man. Jari is so cool. She is just like me it's crazy." Prod smiled and sat on the floor.

"Don't thank me. Thank Ray for telling me to get on Instagram yesterday. If I hadn't I would have lost her mention with the other million." I smiled. "Thanks Ray."

"Yeah. Thanks Ray. We owe you one man." Roc dapped off Ray.

"Man, I need somebody." Myles sighed as he fall down into a chair.

"Thirsty much?" Roc joked and we laughed.

"Yeah I am. Go get me some water." Myles laughed.

"Guys, guess what?" I said.

"What?" They asked.

"Artemis can sing like an angel." I sighed.

"She sang for you?" Roc asked.

"Duh! How else would he have known she could sing like an angel?" Ray hit the back of Roc's head.

"What did she sing?" Prodigy asked ignoring the two.

"If I Ain't Got You by Alicia Keys." I answered.

"That is so cute." Myles teased.

"Whatever man. Get out. All of you." I said. They got up and left with a lot of noise. I smiled as I thought about Artemis.

I need to meet her. And I need to meet her soon.
