Cecily, we should stop...

It was the first time he called my name.

I'm sorry it has to end this way.

If anything, it is I to blame.

I should have, I would have,

I could have listened to your warnings.

But no, stupid me refused to listen

And reap sorrow in the morning.

I played with your heartstrings.

I tugged and I pulled

With the attempt to discover

What makes the beast drool.

I pushed buttons left and right

Without a second thought,

Unaware of your feelings

Of fear and distraught.

My apologies, Cecily.

You refused, but I insisted.

Go on, leave me!

I deserve to be blacklisted.

I can't. I can never!

Please... don't leave me.

I need you, Shadow Knight.

I know you still need me.

I refuse to let go of your hand!

Alright, I'll block you then.

Please don't, I beg you!

Can't we just stay friends?

He paused and pondered.

I held out my hand.

He sighed and he shook it.

Alright, now here's the plan.

I'll draw a line,

A place to start anew.

But if we fall and lose control,

It's the end for me and you.

Fun Fact: I used to play with chalk.

When I was a little kid, my cousin and I loved playing house. When we didn't have enough things/toys to divide the different sections of our makeshift home, we would simply use white chalk. For us, it creates an invisible wall that we cannot simply cross over. Also, we used to play certain types of games where you cannot step on the lines or you are not allowed do cross them. And so I thought, why not use white chalk as the said boundary between Cecily and the mysterious man?

Question and Answer: Here is a section where you can ask anything about the poem or the work itself. I'll do my best to answer them all.
