Have you ever experienced a plane crash

Or being hit at the back of the head?

Have you ever woken up feeling

Like you have risen from the dead?

Because I haven't...

Up until this very day.

Not until I saw him beside me

With all his glory on full display.

Scratches, claw marks etched on his back,

Blue-purple bruises on his chest.

I couldn't believe my own two eyes.

Is this the consequence of failing the test?

Heat and warmth wrapped my body.

Temperatures rose to a thousand degrees.

I stumbled on my feet, rushing outside

To see burning grass and trees.

Blood, fire, and glowing embers

Was all that I could see.

To think a creature not so tall

And a cup of hot boiling tea

Could burn entire mountains

And bring jungles to their knees,

Wipe off civilizations

And drain the seven seas.

Did I...?

Did we...?

I'm sorry...

Please, forgive me...

I didn't intend for things

To go crazy and topsy-turvy.

The saucer just slipped out of my hand,

The tea spilled, and we got dirty.

I should have, I would have,

I could have been more careful.

Now, look at where it got us —

A place similar to Chernobyl.

Fun Fact: Wildfire was inspired by a pastor's sermon.

During one particular church service, my pastor preached about the dangers of the tongue. Yes, it is a small organ compared to the rest of our body parts, but the damage it can cause is so SEVERE and sometimes even IRREVERSIBLE. I was very blessed by the message, and it taught me a lot of valuable lessons. So I thought, why not write a poem about it?

Question and Answer: Here is a section where you can ask anything about the poem or the work itself. I'll do my best to answer them all.
