CHAPTER SIX: COFFEE LANG, PROMISE

Hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na si Dr. Claudia pala ang babaeng tinulungan ko kahapon.  Wow. It's like we are destined to meet. Iba nga naman si tadhana, ano?

"What happened to your Dad?" tanong ko kasi kahit na napagkamalan kong bading si Dr. Weisman ay may concern din naman ako sa kapwa tao ko

"He's diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer. You know what, he didn't even said a word about it. I just found out when my Mum accidentally spilled the tea whilst we were having dinner..." sabi niya sabay bukas ng bote ng mineral water at ininom ito

Hindi ko napigilang mapatingin sa bibig niya habang umiinom siya ng tubig. I don't know why but her lips looks so good. It's juicy, it's red, it's luscious.

"Everything okay? Nauuhaw ka rin ba? You want water? Seltzer? Truly?" tinignan niya ako ng napaka-inosente niyang tingin

Na-guilty tuloy ako. Seconds ago, I was salivating and wondering how her lips tastes like. Oh god. I have to stop this nonsense.

"I'm not actually a seltzer or truly kind of guy. I'm not that much of a drinker. I only drink if it's my birthday or it's New Year..." sabi ko at halatang nagulat siya sa narinig niya

Akala niya yata I'm the type of guy who often goes out to party, get drunk, and get laid.

"I'm not a smoker either. I don't know but I just want to keep a healthy body..." hindi ko alam kung bakit ako nag-eexplain basta ganun

"Wow. I'm so shocked, Mr. Venereza. I thought you're a badboy..." sabi ni Dr. Claudia and I sometimes hate to give that kind of impression to other people

"Well, believe it or not, I may look like a badboy but I am actually a good boy..." sabi ko at napangiti lang siya

"That's good to know, Mr. Venereza..." sabi naman niya

"Nahh. Just call me Gigo or Gigs..." sabi ko at ang bilis niyang napailing

"You're my patient, Mr. Venereza. If nasa ospital tayo, I have to call you that pero if nasa labas, then Gigo it is..." sabi niya at halatang hindi pa siya bihasa sa tagalog niya kasi parang conyo pakinggan kung paano niya sinasambit ang bawat salita

Kagaya ko. Hahaha. Fellow conyo! HAHAHAHAHA

"Okay, Dr. Claudia. So, if nasa labas tayo then I can call you Claudia? Or Clauds?" tanong ko

"Fine, fine. Kahit anong gusto mo..." sabi niya sabay kuha ng isang folder sa loob ng drawer niya

Paano kung gusto ko siyang tawagin ng "akin"?
Darn it. Why am I even thinking about that?

At napatingin na naman ako sa mga labi niya. Ang kapal, ang pula, and it's sculpted like it's meant to be kissed....by me.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Venereza?"

"Heyyy..."

Nagulat ako ng may kamay na biglang pumatong sa kamay ko. And gently squeezed it.

"Darn it. Ang sarap mo..." sabi ng bibig ko out of nowhere at pati ako nagulat sa nasabi ko

"What?!" pati ang magandang doktora sa harap ko ay nagulat din

"Uhhh...I meant the....the breakfast that I had..." sabi ko na nauutal-utal pa

"Oh okay, Mr. Venereza. So, I'm gonna talk about your diagnosis and what we can do about it, okay? If....if nakamove-on ka na sa masarap mong....breakfast..." sabi ni Dr. Claudia in her sexy accent

Wala na akong nasabi pa. I just nod my head but I'm still looking at her red and juicy lips.

"So, after the MRI and the Lachman Test that had been done to see what is really going on with your knee, it's clear that it's a torn ACL. What's unfortunate is that it needs surgery to reestablish normal knee stability. For Grade 3 or complete tear of ACL, reconstruction surgery is scheduled between three to six weeks after the injury. If you're wondering why it's so tagal pa, it's because the inflammation in the area should subside first before we perform it..." paliwanag ni Dr. Claudia at tango lang ako nang tango

She obviously knows what she's doing and I know I'm in good hands.

"I will perform the surgery, Mr. Venereza and right after that, I will be your physical therapist as well since I am am orthopedic physical therapist as well..." sabi niya at wala na, manghang-mangha na talaga ako sa kanya

But then, I can't help but stare at her lips.

"Okay na ba, Mr. Venereza? Understood? Or do you still have questions?" tanong niya

"I'm...all good...." nauutal na naman ako

"That's great. Also, ano nga 'yung favorite drink mo?" tanong ulit ni doc at nagulat ako

"It's from the brand Cocio Chocolate Milk from Denmark. I love the Dark Chocolate one..." sagot ko at nakita kong isinulat niya 'yung sinabi ko sa sticky note na kulay green

"Noted..." sabi niya sabay ngiti sa akin

"What's that for?" tanong ko

"Wala lang..." sabi niya in a very conyo way

She's cute. But her lips......

Darn it. I have to stop looking at her freakin' delicious lips!

"So....ex mo 'yung kausap mo kanina?" I can't help it. I have to ask her this.

"Yeahhh. We've been together for two years but then he cheated on me. With you know whom? His ex-girlfriend. Like they got back together while he's still dating me..."

I can't believe what I just heard.

"That scumbag..." sabi ko

"What an ass he is, right? Anyways, forget it. I'm all good now..." sabi naman ni Dr. Claudia and I'm quite not sure if she's really okay

"Coffee. Do you want to have coffee with me?" bigla kong naisipan na yayain siya lumabas

"Sureee. But I have to be somewhere else in like an hour..." sabi niya at ako din naman

I still have a champsionship game to watch and root for.

I saw her fixing her stuffs. I can't believe I asked her out. But is this a date though? Nahhh. It's just a casual one. Coffee lang, promise. Hindi date.

"So, Griffin is his name?" tanong ko sabay bukas ng pintuan para sa kanya

"Yes. Griffin a.k.a Scumbag..." napangiti ako sa sinabi niya

"You know, I have a bestfriend named Griffin as well. He's also my teammate. Baka iisang Griffin lang sila ah? But I doubt it. My friend is a good guy. He's single and definitely not a cheater..." sabi ko at napangiti lang si doc

"Nahhh. They're different people. My ex is from New Jersey and works as an accountant there..." sabi niya at  magkaibang Griffin nga naman talaga. Buti na lang.

"So, where are we off to?" tanong ni doc

"I know a great place that serves great coffee as well. Follow me...." sabi ko at kahit na sinabi kong "follow me" ay siya pa rin ang pinauna kong pinalakad

"Akala ko ba I'll follow you?" natawa na lang si Dr. Claudia. I meant Claudia. After all, nasa labas na kami ng ospital

"Yeah, but ladies first..." sabi ko at natawa na lang din ako
