So I've been feeling rather uninsipired lately and stubmled across a writing prompt on instagram yesterday. It was "write a poem that includes the following words: deep, sun, strength and numb." Since I've been at a stand still I thought I'd give it a go. Two things happened: I wrote something for the first time in weeks and I realized how much I love writing poetry. More poems to come? Most likely, yes.
Here's what I came up with:
Weighted like an anchor,
Sinking in the deep,
Never at the surface,
Dying just to breathe.
And then you came to pull me up,
My sweetest little sin,
It’s hard to see the part of me,
That ends where you begin,
You’re the strength inside my weakness,
The keeper of my pain,
You make the darkness disappear,
Like the sun right after rain,
So I’ll chase this downward spiral,
In madness I am numb,
I’ll let you in, my sweetest sin,
To see who I’ve become.
