INCREDIBLY CLOSE

the sky is crystal clear

this time of the year.

she says: sit here with me.

let's watch the deers.

we enjoy the atmosphere

over a couple of beers.

she whispers in my ear

things she holds dear.

"stay near," i say,

"i'll wipe your tears.

promise, you won't disappear

if you spell out your fear."

set up a campsite,

we lay there until midnight,

under the dancing northern light,

where the willow resides.

amongst these starlight,

we're immortalised

under the meteorites

yet forever lost, like satellites.

my fingertips are frostbite,

but i feel alright,

in spite of zero degree

fahrenheit.

she tips over, and kisses me slow.

within the green meadows,

our shadows burrow

amongst wild marigolds and roses.

tug me to my elbows.

take off her clothes.

we hollow

each other's sorrow.

temporarily forget

tomorrow.

and in the afterglow, i hold her close

till our bodies turn cold.
