You trudged along behind Luz, blocking out your brother's voice.
It wasn't easy, especially when he gave you an agonizing headache.
Rubbing your head ignorantly, you decided to talk to Luz more.
"So... you're human. How'd you get here?" you inquired, kicking at the dirt.
"This weird portal-door-thingy." she shrugged.
She was so cheery, it must be wonderful.
You'll never be cheery. No one can with death on their conscience.
"Cool."
"So where are you from? I've never seen someone with glowy eyes like yours!" she giggled.
"Far away. I'm not even sure exactly where." you sighed.
y/n. You're stupid. Bloody kill her now!?
As another shoot of pain seared through your head, you held back a grimace.
"Mmm. Why do you have your hood up? It's not even raining!!" Luz laughed, pointing at your green cloak.
"Oh- I forgot." you said nervously, pulling down your hood.
Her eyes widened.
"Your ears!!" Lux exclaimed.
She frowned. "I thought you weren't human?"
"I'm not. This is just what my ears are like, I guess."
Blood. Blood. Blood. Blood. Blood. Blood. Blood.
"Ok! We're nearly here-" Luz just smiled.
After another spurt of speed-walking, you arrived at Hexside.
Sitting on the front stairs were a navy-haired girl and a dark-skinned boy.
They smiled and waved at Luz, running over to her.
When they saw you, their eyes widened.
"Hiiiiii guys!!! This is my new friend, y/n. Y/n, meet Gus, and Willow!" Luz clapped her hands together.
"What are you??" the boy, Gus. asked incredulously.
"Gus that's rude!" Willow hissed. Her tone wasn't cruel, it was politely warning.
They're easy targets!! I know you'd love to just... snap!! Hahahahah.
You put your hand to your forehead again.
"You ok?" Luz asked, raising an eyebrow.
You nodded. You were fine.
NO YOU'RE NOT YOU ASSHOLE OF A BEING!!! WHY WON'T YOU JUST KIIIIIIIILL????
"We're going to practice our magic. You're coming?" Willow asked.
You shrugged. "Sure."
Despite Bill's constant nagging, you had quite a good time.
You had been able to act your age for once!
Lux had showed you a few easy glyphs, as you refused to use your magic.
You found out Willow was studying plant magic, and Gus was learning illusions.
You learnt that Luz had come from the human world by accident, and that Eda the Owl Lady had taken her in- and they had been trying to find a way back there since.
After the failed petrification, Belos had gotten the original portal.
Kikimora and the Golden Guard had been out to get them.
