An excursion is when all magical girls gather together to a realm, to explore something.
The exploration could be a missing artifact, or a charm scattered around the place. Either way, and excursion must have a purpose, and cannot be random/for fun.
An excursion must also be held by the leader.
As the leader, you must decide where, why, when, and how you're going to the realm.
