It was all swerves and yells an screams as I held my gushing neck in the careening vehicle. Jake sprayed the bawling beast before Lyla matched the brakes and threw it off the windscreen with Lee squealing in its firm grip.

"Lee!" I shrilled as the undead cat crushed his skull before dozens of others surged and ripped him to shreds and spattered his blood on the coal-tar.

Jake ceased fire as the creatures flee into the windy jungle with Lee's bloodied remains.

"No no no no no!" Cried Lyla as the she started the vehicle in vain.

"Why did the they kill only him?" I asked, feeling burns on my neck and liquid trickering down in between my breasts. The glass must have been lost in my flesh somehow but I didn't care.

"I'm going out," said Jake.

"Be careful," I held his shoulder then he turned at me with that icy look in his  blue eyes.

"We're all stepping out of this truck." He cocked his riffle and opened the door, letting in that rush of fear that clogged up my chest and churned my hungry stomach.

I alighted into the hot breeze, still massaging my neck and groaning from the pinching pain.

Lyla shut the door and approached me with quavering lips. "We'll... be fine, Elena." She smiled and took out a piece of rag and gently wrapped around my neck to suppress the bleeding. I wondered why she became so kind all of a sudden. I mean she was—

"Y'all ready to die yet?!" Yelled Rick in the other truck behind us, beckoning for us to hasten.

I held Jake's damp glove as he urged me into the cool vehicle and shut the door and sat, grunting and staring toward the sun with glassy eyes.

"We must move now," said Barbara on the front passenger seat.

"Lee's dead," Lyla uttered, sobbing. "He didn't deserve to die like that!"

"Everybody dies," Barbara replied.

"Shut the hell up you bitch!"

"Lyla!" I squeezed her shaky fingers, "come here..." she laid on my chest, gushing warm tears.

"We cannot be divided," Jake muttered.

"It was your idea boy. Now we're fucked!" Rick bellowed, clasping the steering with veiny hands and stiffing himself. "We're all gonna die Jake and it will be on you."

"What the hell do know about responsibility?" Jake flared, "are you insane? Didn't you know what we all signed up for?"

"Rick's right Jake. We—we should have waited," Johnny spoke as if he was not sure—

"Y'all!" I yelled, frowning hard. "These petty arguments will only cause terrible decisions for all of us. We must stick to the plan. And I'll drive."

"Can't even move your legs twat," Rick shot.

"Step out of the car Rick. I'm taking the wheels wether you like it or not." I glared, breathing heavily now.

Lyla quickly stuck a gun to his head before he uttered a word. "Get your punk ass outta here otherwise Imma blow your fucking head off!"
