Chapter 23 - Zella's Bizzare Adventure

Start from the beginning

Once they saw it light up, she kept her hand there. And she stayed that way until the elevator moved up again and opened at the next floor.

"It's going further away from the party room." Mikio mumbled.

"Yeah..."

"Floor 80."

"Hey, is it just me or is it kinda chilly?" Neito asked.

"Yeah, you're rig- are those villains?"

"And your classmates?"

The cousins beat the living hell out of the villains and robots in order to get the others where they needed to be. They were so quick to copy the hardening, half ice-half fire and explosion quirks that the boys didn't understand what was going on at first.

Except for Bakugo. He'd seen them do this shit in sync since they were kids. The cousins bond was another type of strong.

All of this was yet another event that brought Zella closer to her classmates, and with every time she knew just how much she wanted to keep protecting them.

She became a little too good at it...

Todoroki and her hung out a lot too, with Midoriya joining occasionally. They were getting close, telling each other stuff no one else knew and sometimes they wouldn't say anything at all. Just enjoyed each other's company.

She sat on the edge of the bed while he sat on the chair by her desk.

"It was nice of you to talk to Koda earlier..." he said.

"You were watching me? Didn't know I had a stalker." she smirked. He laughed softly and plopped down next to her on the bed.

Koda had been feeling down, sitting alone on the grass just outside their building. Zella noticed and went to sit next to him and asked what was wrong.

Since he's the shy type, it took a few minutes before he muttered the words;

"Sometimes... sometimes I don't feel good about my quirk. And it makes me wonder... if." she sat quietly and just listened to him talk. When he went silent again, she put a hand on his knee and smiled at him.

She then put her other hand up with her pointer finger out.

"Come here, birdies." and then a beautiful, small and brown bird landed on her finger. It chirped back at them and Kodas eyes lit up.

"Your quirk is beautiful, Koda. You got into U.A didn't you? You shouldn't worry. Truly." she then looked back at the bird and smiled.

"Now go sit on his head." she giggled and he couldn't help but smile when the tiny bird landed on top of his head.

"Don't sit out too late, Kacchan made his famous chilli and he'll get mad if everyone doesn't eat it." she got up and went back inside.

"While I don't know the exact words you told him, he smiled afterwards the most I've ever seen him smile before." Shoto was cute like this, grey sweatpants, messy hair and a black T-shirt. Wearing a pair of slippers Zella had created while practicing with Momo's quirk. He put his hand in hers and smiled.

And for a few seconds, they just stared at each other. She was too nervous to even smile back. The two had developed a crush on each other over time, maybe even more.

He looked at her lips and then back to her eyes, both leaning in. But then he stopped.

"I... I'm sorry did I-" she started.

"No, no. You did nothing wrong. It's just that, I really, really like you. And I want our first kiss to be special." he mumbled.

"Oh. Then why didn't you just say so?" she giggled and in one quick move she picked him up and ran out the building.

After a second or two, the pair stood in front of a small duck pond just outside. The sun was beginning to set and he didn't waste another second to grab her face and smash his lips onto hers.

And that was genuinely the first time he's felt love in a long, long time. Maybe ever.

"How's that for a first kiss?" she asked after pulling away.

"Perfect." he put a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Why do you always do that..." she smiled and leaned into his hand.

"Because your eyes bring me comfort..." he whispered.

What they didn't know, was that Bakugo saw the whole thing since he was going out to watch the sunset on that building. He waited a few minutes before going out the front door. Zella saw him and wanted to tag along as usual.

"I'll see you later, yeah?"

"Yeah." he kissed her hand before parting ways.

And then it kinda became a normal thing. It started with that kiss, then there was another, and then another...

Those innocent glances at each other in class, nervously holding hands under the table, countless late night talks.

They never talked about a relationship, but it was obvious to everyone that there was something going on. It even created tension between her and Katsuki.

If you'd ask Zella why, she wouldn't know the answer. She didn't dare to think it was because he was jealous. Cause why would he be?

And if you'd ask him, he'd say that it was because he was head over heels in love with her and had been that for years.

"I'm glad I found you up here that day. It's so peaceful." Zella said as they laid on their backs on that rooftop.

"Yeah..." he mumbled, too distracted by her smile to comprehend the words she just spoke.

Of course he was going to get irritated when someone else swoops in and catches feelings as well.

Then again, he couldn't blame him. She was truly one of a kind.

And had they known that the training camp they currently were on their way to would be the last time they'd spend time with her, they'd tell her.

They'd all tell her how much she meant to them.

Kai closed the diary and put it back where he found it, sighing as he laid back down on her bed.

But her adventure had to end there.
