mirabel had decided to take you around town as a date. the two of you had talked to people in town and bought some things, holding hands the whole time. at one point you saw camilo spill their mcdonald's sprite all over himself.
then mirabel presented you with another gift. it was a plush heart, almost big enough to be used as a pillow.
"i made you this," she smiled.
"i love it." you hugged it to yourself. like the blanket, it was really soft.
you leaned in for a kiss, and about five seconds into it a cactus just sprouted out of the ground, very suddenly, and made you jump.
"oh, yeah, isabela is still testing the different kind of plants she can make," mirabel said.
"oh..."
getting jumpscared by a cactus wasn't something you ever really expected to happen to you, and during a kiss with mirabel no less...
"we can continue the kiss," mirabel said.
you nodded and leaned in again, and the kiss got to go on for longer. when you pulled away, the sky started to darken a bit.
"oh, i might have to see what's up with tía pepa-"
"it's okay," you said.
mirabel smiled and waved goodbye as she walked back home. you waved back and then walked into the cactus.
