Growing up

"And how exactly do you plan on achieving this Mr Meyer?" James asks me.

I look up at him and give him a knowing smile. Because I know.

"Well Mr Rickell, it's not like my company does not have enough finances to expand. We are already on the leading board.

And owning and running six mines in Africa should make it easier for us to invest and not loose anything at the same time. Which will make this go two ways instead of three.

The first way would be us making a humongous profit that sky rockets our business Meyer Legacy .

The second way would lead to us making all the money we invested back, but no profit which is also bad.

And had you had another leader, you'd have option three, where you don't make nothing at all. But with me, that is far from being possible. " I say, using my hands the entire time to illustrate what I'm telling them.

"Well that sounds good to me." Mr Rickell says.

"And how do you intend to begin with this expansion?" Mr Grant asks.

"Well ladies and gentlemen . I intend on starting big, like starting a grand hotel. The grandest in the world.

And from that, we can see where we can move to." I tell them.

They nod and babble a few more things to me. As if I'm not already going to do this. I mean it's my company, I'm going to do what's best for it and my family of workers .

"Well, ladies and gentlemen. It has been quite the pleasure to have you here with me. I have another meeting in an hour, so I'll be excusing myself." I say. Each of them shake my hand.

Including Mrs Kingston, who was at first wary of me as her CEO.

I pad my shoes against the beautiful tiled floors and make my way to my office.

When I open the door, I feel relief wash over me.

I stare at the beautiful view that is behind my desk. The wonderful skyline of New York City from the floor to ceiling glass window.

I sit on the large mahogany desk and sign some of the work that needs to be submitted.

A tiny knock sounds on my door.

"Enter." I say.

My best friend Usher walks in.

"Hey, Nathan!" He yells from the door.

"Dont make so much noise Usher people are working." I warn.

He smiles and takes a seat infront of me.

"So how's the big man doing?" He asks.

"The big man is tired. And has another meeting and fourth five minutes." I tell him. He smiles.

"You know Nate, we're only twenty five. You shouldn't be stressing so much.  Heck you could be a stay at home CEO, your business is doing more than well.

You are by far the youngest billionaire. If you stay home, nothing not even your bank account would be injured." He says.

I tab my finger on my chin. What he's saying does make sense, but I love being here.

I inherited the company from my father who at first owned the biggest farm in South Africa.  I sold it to make the business better.

And two years from now, we own six mines . And three branches of logistics.

"You should be focused on your wedding." He says.

I stand up quickly.

"I have to get to the meeting. Or else Elizabeth is going to kill me." I say stumping out of the office and into my private elevator.

Usher stands next to me, laughing fits.

"What?" I ask.

"Nothing ." He says, his eyes filled with humor.

I get in my black Maserati as soon as the elevator dings.

The drive home is not as busy as the drive to work. Although the streets are not exactly clear.

I park my car in the the building's private parking.  And take the private elevator up to the penthouse.

"Hey baby." Elizabeth greets as soon as I open the door.

She is in a white ankle length dress that flows like shes some kind of model when she walks.

She walks over and embraces me, then she gives me a peck on my lips.

"Mrs Meyer." I say to her, the smile that spreads across her face is gorgeous.

"We have to get there now.  Or we'll be behind schedule. " she says.

And just like that, we're on the road again. On the way to the wedding planner.

"Hey, how'd the meeting go?" She asks.

"It went great, they loved it." I tell her. She just nods while she's typing something on her phone.

"How's Charlotte and your mother?" I ask her. She doesnt look up when she answers , she just types away as she speaks.

"They're okay. Charlotte just got into a law school." She says.

Its surprising how nonchalant she is. Who ever she is talking must've really grabbed her attention.

When we façade the car, I realise that shes still on her phone. Laughing and smiling with someone.

Would it make me insecure to check who she is laughing and smiling with?

"Ahh, Mr and soon to be Mrs Meyer. Welcome." Sandy the wedding planner says.

"Thank you. " I say.

I turn to look at Elizabeth who is still on her phone. I'm getting a bit annoyed.

"Liz, please get off your phone for one minute. So that we can complete this meeting and head straight home." I ask her.

Her face falls but she puts the phone away.

The planner takes us through the whole seating arrangement and decor . Here and there she asks if we're on board with her plans.

Which I'd say I love, the colours are simple. Just white and gold.

We move right along to cake tasting and food tasting.

The cake taste so good, Liz chose the red velvet,  chocolate and fruit cake. And all of them taste absolutely awesome.

"Well, I'll see you Mrs Meyer in two days for the final fitting. And you Mr Meyer a week from now walking down the isle." She says.

We walk into the car and soon she is back on her phone.

I love her, but this habit of hers is starting to get really annoying.  I don't want to snap at her but these past few days shes been asking for it.

When we get to the penthouse.  She retires immediately to the bed. And it's only six PM.

I'm left in the kitchen to make a quick meal and dig right back into work.

Goodnight Liz.
