THIRD PERSON'S POV.
River thought that getting KT's key off Victor would be the biggest problem today, but as she and Alfie reached the pathway leading to the crypt, she was proved wrong. The duo had to stop and hide behind trees upon seeing Miss Denby standing in front of the crypt door. River didn't know how, but the woman managed to open the door with her key. As she and Alfie watched Denby enter the crypt, River hoped that the woman wouldn't come out with KT, Eddie, and Fabian.
"What do we do now?" Alfie inquired in a worried tone.
"There's nothing to do except wait," River replied. As the minutes slowly passed by, River decided to bring up a question to Alfie that had been bugging her for a while. "Hey, what's up with Jerome?"
"Wha... What do you mean?" Alfie responded, sounding a bit nervous to River.
"I don't know. He's been acting... weird. Like super on edge. Like he's hiding something. And this morning with Willow—"
"Oh, it's just his time of the month."
River furrowed her brows in confusion. "You realize only girls get period cycles, right?"
"Oh, uhm..." Alfie anxiously trailed off. Thankfully for him, a diversion came. "Oh, look, Denby's coming out." River turned her attention back to the crypt, seeing Denby stepping out of it while dragging the wheelbarrow holding the tank which was covered in the green drape. "And she's got the tank."
"And since she's not having a mental breakdown, I'm guessing the others did not have any luck with the ceremony and waking old Frobbie," River gathered with a sigh, while Alfie nodded. Denby had made her way away from the crypt while dragging the wheelbarrow with her. Once she was out of sight, River sent a nod to Alfie. "Coast is clear. Let's go."
The two pranksters stepped out from behind the trees and headed over to the door. Using the key, River unlocked it and pushed the door open, causing its creaks to echo. She and Alfie stepped into the familiar creepy area, finding it oddly lonesome. River stepped further into the crypt, looking around it and finding nothing. Alfie approached her and the two shared a shrug, wearing confused frowns. Where were KT, Fabian, and Eddie?
"Guys!" A sudden yell caused River and Alfie to jump and let out frightened shrieks. River turned to the source of the voice, seeing Fabian step out of the corner with a smile.
"Jesus, Fabian!" River exclaimed as she clutched her chest. Eddie and KT stepped out of another corner, both relieved to see Alfie and River.
"Don't do that!" Alfie piped in.
"Am I glad to see you guys," Eddie said, pulling Alfie into a hug, while River was pulled into a hug by KT.
