Welcome friends, fae and human alike, countrymen and Romans, those who yearn for the wild, those who hide in shadows, those without a care in the world and those who weep at the drop of a dime, the brave, the cowards, the gentle and the hazards, as well as other gathered associates of any species. Lastly, Welcome to you folks and fools who picked this book up entirely by accident. my deepest apologies to all.
Olright... I'm not really sure how to begin, but I guess introductions are in order. So, hi. My name's Caedmon.
I'm currently writing this in a Tim Hortons. I'm told this is a place to "hang out". My friend tried getting me to write on a laptop, which is just terrifying. Letters appear when you touch their likeness. Revolutionary. I'm just not used to it yet. Pen and paper feel more familiar...
My friend, Lazuli that is, ordered us coffee. I don't like it very much. Makes me jumpy.
I'm getting sidetracked. Back to business. So, I wasn't really gonna write down anything about this, because... well why would I? Lazuli coerced me into it though, so you have her to thank for this mess.
First of all, she asked me to start this off with a warning of sorts. After reading my story, whoever you are, you'll probably know a little more than you should about a certain place that is accessible through a certain cave in a certain wood. Maybe just don't go there, olright? I don't want to have to come save anyone, humans or otherwise. On second thought, I just won't tell you where to go. Problem solved.
So... I've introduced myself... I've given the warning... what else is there to say? I guess I should also mention that, if any of you are faint of heart, maybe this isn't the story for you? Lazuli and I run into our fair share of bloody dealings, and we don't always walk away unscathed.
That reminds me. I have a dog. Well, he's actually more of a wolf, but same thing. His name is Scathe. Apparently, people don't generally bring wolves into Tim Hortons, so he's not here right now, but he's great. I'm sure you'll love him. Same goes for Aoife. She's not a wolf, though.
In any case, I do hope you know what you're getting yourself into. If you have gotten ahold of this, you're probably friends with some strange folk. If you plan on passing it on, know it's imperative only to share it with those you trust. I know of some who would kill to keep this information hidden from both your people and mine.
So, make sure no one dangerous-looking is lurking in the shadows, giving you the evil eye, and no one is reading over your shoulder, and you have permission to begin.
Oh gods, that coffee thing is kicking in. I feel like I could run a thousand miles. Hold on, actually, I think I'm gonna puke. What do you people put in this stuff? I feel faint. Gotta go.

1-I have a large scale water fight with my house as it burns to the ground before my very eyes
Well, shet, I thought to myself, still half asleep, This can't be good.
Heat licked my face, caressing my body. My skin began to feel flushed. I groggily opened one eye, pushing a braided strand of hair out of my face and immediately jumped out of bed.
The cabin was aflame.
Fire leapt up the walls, climbing the wood as they spread higher and higher. I heard shouts outside, but they grew evermore distant with each passing moment.
I sprinted towards the bedroom door, ducking as the smoke clouded my view and the fire reached out with sizzling claws. Stumbling into the common area, I shielded my face and kept low to the ground. On the mantelpiece, sitting above the place where I generally preferred my fires to reside, was a picture. I dashed for it just as one of the roof beams collapsed behind me.
