"So tell Dadi what kind of a day you had?"

"I?... Don't ask!"

"Why? What happened?"

"I had called Shankar to come at 9 in the morning but he came at 11 am that too after evoking him through numerous calls... And even then he said that at 12:30 he would leave because he had to be somewhere, now tell me how much work I could get him done in one and a half hours?
He didn't even brought his mowing equipments, I don't know who made him a gardener...."

Kaveri Dadi gave this detailed account exasperatingly. Knowing about her Dadi's extreme fondness towards her garden, Manjiri couldn't help but question her

"Oh so the lawn remain unattended, what about the flower beds and hedges?"

"He did weed the flower beds and he took more time in trimming the hedges and Ashok trees.... But rest all is left. Will again call him tomorrow.
Now leave all this you tell me about your pleasant day..."

Kaveri Dadi casually asked making Manjiri pause a little as that day she definitely had anything but a pleasant day.

"Mine? It was usual only..."

"You okay Beta?"

Kaveri Dadi asked with a coy. Manjiri looked at her and forced a beaming smile whilst voicing

"Yeah Dadi, why wouldn't I be?"

"So why are my abruptly kicking in maternal instincts reporting me otherwise?"

At this Manjiri fall short of words in providing a suitable answer to her Dadi's inexplicable question.

"Come here!"

Kaveri Dadi called out to make Manjiri scoot a little adjacent to her, taking her clammy cold left hand in both of her feeble warm wrinkled hands she gently commanded Manjiri

"Beta out with whatever is troubling your mind!"

"Its nothing Dadi, genuinely!"

Manjiri lied in order to avoid the matter, but one warning look and word from Dadi resulted her to take a defeated soft sigh in her heart

"Miru!"

"I umm..."

Wounding her arms around her Dadi's shoulders, she laid her head against her shoulder and hesitantly added

"Dadi, do you think I possess a presumptuous behavior?"

"Huh?... Presumptuous behavior?"

Dadi cross - questioned mystifyingly. Bouncing back from her shoulder, Manjiri tried to paraphrase her own self - doubts with more clarity

"Umm! I mean do I rashly jump to conclusions before analyzing things through?..... Do you also think that I've a limited mind ability to juggle different possibilities and scenarios, and at last weigh out the probabilities all at once?
If that's making any sense, if no then I can rephrase...."

"No no I got it, but 'also'... wait who else thinks the same?"

Dadi replied and then put up a question in a conducive manner.
To which Manjiri answered inaudibly whilst averting her gaze on her own hands which were now casually resting in her lap
