" only fools fall. "
____________

"are you a fool !?" her eyes widen at the boy drenched in rainwater. despite her shock, she was relieved.

he was now here.

in front of her.

as she watched him approach her, catching his breath, he spoke words of none.

" riki. " she tried to get him to reply.

he looked her straight in her eyes. nothing but sincerity.

" allow me to. " his hands made their way to cup her cheeks.

" what? " confusion rushed through.

" me or him. " he asked, ignoring her bewilderment.

" you? " she answered. despite not knowing the context, within a heartbeat, she would always choose him.

no matter how many times she tried to give up.

no matter how many times she was rejected.

no matter how many times she denied it.

over and over,

it was always going to be him.

" thank you. " he whispered with only being inches away from her.

the cold air swept through as she could almost feel his breathing pattern being back to normal.

and with that, the unexpected happened.

so much she couldn't even hold her umbrella probably anymore, leaving them both being rained on again.

a kiss.

no.

a kiss of hunger, regrets, apologies.

as they both pulled back to catch their breath, she looked at him, waiting for words, responses, anything.

" im sorry for being late but, " he muttered low, not once did he her eyes.

" can you ask me the question again? "

she knew.

and she was afraid.

but nevertheless, she was going to try again.

"between you and i, who am i to you."

" my one and only love. " he responded as he rest his head on her shoulder.

this was the moment they have both waited for.

for too long.

he stood back up straight as he released her cheeks. he took this moment to admire her before speaking.

"if it's not too late. allow me to be the one for you."

she finally smiled.

perhaps the universe decided to finally give in and let them be.

"are you sure?" she cautiously confirmed.

"yes yui. from the beginning it had always been you."

"then last time-"

"i lied. i thought i knew better than to deny my feelings but you won."

although yui have always been in second place in life with him,

to him, she would always be first.

he waited for what felt like forever as he watched her think.

he didn't know what was going through her mind but whatever she was thinking,  he was going to respect.

after all, he did hurt her.

however,
instead of returning the words, her smile widened as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

another kiss.

that was enough to answer his hopeful confession.

"to answer your question from before," he spoke as they broke the contact.

"yes i am." he nodded.

"a fool for you."
