Earlier that afternoon, Kenma left. Again. He had been quite busy for the past few days, and he didn't tell you where he's going either.
You were left in the unit with the cats that were busy playing among themselves while you lounge in the couch, hardly paying attention to the movie playing in the television because your mind was on something else. But before you can entertain your thoughts, you heard your phone ringing.
At first you thought it was Kenma, but when you read the name written on the screen, you realized who it was.
"Kuroo-san?" you muttered, contemplating whether to answer it or not. You looked at it for a few seconds as it kept ringing until it was switched to voicemail because you didn't answer.
He hanged up and you put your phone back on the coffee table, taking the remote control as you turned the television off and stood up, about ready to head to the room when your phone started ringing again.
You almost flinched, perhaps Kenma's absence made you a bit jumpy or maybe because you knew who it was that is calling. You turned back around and looked at your phone, Kuroo's name displayed on the screen.
This time, you didn't wait for it to be switch to voicemail, when you picked up your phone from the coffee table, you found yourself sliding the answer button.
