Question 4: What does the Joker really think about Batman?
Dr. Quinzel sat in her office reviewing the Joker's file. One thing always stood out, and surprisingly, remained consistent in every session in which it was brought up. And that was Batman. In fact, it seemed as if the Batman was the only thing that truly fascinated the Joker. And there were pages upon pages of the Joker's remunerations about the bat.
In one session he was asked if he was in love with Batman. The answer the Joker gave was one that Dr. Quinzel found to be of the most interest. Because you see, every doctor who had previously treated the Joker, documented that he was indeed incapable of loving. But when Dr. Quinzel read his answer, that wasn't what she drew from it.
"You see doctor, desire often comes in response to something else, like a touch or an erotic conversation that leaves room for growth. If the desire is somehow sated, even the flickering memory of it could become motivation for more desire later on. Meaning, one found some sort of satisfaction, therefore they carry on the cycle. However, there's always a need to be met and aleviated. If this need is ignored then the original desire wilts away."
It sounds vague right? Like it answers nothing, but instead dances around the topic with jibberish and nonsense? It was the exact kind of response the therapist would expect of the Joker, because they've already labeled him as crazy anyway. And crazy people rarely give a cut and dry definitive answer to anything. So they put absolutely no analysis to his words.
But Dr. Quinzel's entire thesis was about love causing one to lose their mind. And in order for one to write an entire thesis, they must do a lot of intensive research on the matter. Which Dr. Quinzel had most certainly done. So it's she who realizes that the Joker's answer, was infact verbatim to a study written by Dr. Rosemary Basson. But what was more intriguing than the fact that the Joker would choose to quote this particular study, was the fact of what the study was actually about. You see, Dr. Rosemary Basson was a clinical sex therapist.
One thing about his answer was clear, and that was that he had expressed things about desire. In order to do this, it would mean that he did infact have a working knowledge of such things. Because one can't get this knowledge through reading. This kind of knowledge only came with experience.
This leaves Dr. Quinzel wondering, did the Joker view love and sex as the same entity? Or was he perhaps saying that he wanted to have sex with Batman? But then, maybe he was saying that he wasn't in love with Batman, but he'd have sex with him if the opportunity presented itself? How had none of the therapists that came before her not caught this correlation?
So with all this in mind, the doctor scheduled a session with the Joker. The guards bring him in and lock him down. And after they've left, Dr. Quinzel frees him from the straight jacket and shackles. She's become comfortable with this act. She doesn't even consider her own welfare anymore. She thinks the Joker won't hurt her.
Joker's POV
The good doctor appears to be nervous today. Though I'm not quite sure why. But I need to know. "You look a bit on edge today doctor. What has you so nervous?" My eyes instinctually narrow with burning curiosity.
"Because... today's questioning is a bit on the personal side, and I'm worried you won't like it," she answers honestly and adjusts her glasses.
I smile, "So, doctor Quinzel wants to get personal hum?" My flirtatious words instantly turn her ears red. "You needn't get so stressed, I'm fine with that doctor. As long as you keep answering my questions as well." And I knew she would do that because she finds me to be so fascinating.
"Of course," she nervously nods, still avoiding eye contact with me. I can't help but wonder if that's more out of embarrassment than nervousness? Her ears are still as red as my lips. "Tell me about Dr. Rosemary Basson, Mistah J," the doctor fights to look at me. And then her words hit me. Ffffuuuck...Damn she's good. She caught the correlation. Which means she's putting me on the spot now. Testing me.
