"He wasn't the most loved man. He was often misunderstood in his socially awkward nature. But, he was a man, and his friends and family here today miss him dearly-"
The preacher went on with his long drawn sermon, despite me wanting to strangle the ever living hell out of him. There weren't many people at the funeral, just Paige, Michael, Franklin, Niko, Trevor and I. Lester didn't have any family, well besides us. I found it amazing Niko traveled all the way from Liberty City when he didn't really know Lester like we did, but I thanked him for his loyalty to the matter.
We decided a funeral wasn't the place for a two year old, so we left Carter with Amanda. She seemed like the most responsible person at the time.
When the preacher finished we all lined up, taking a flower each off of the closed coffin. I felt dead inside. This didn't feel real. Surely this was just a fever dream and I was going to wake up in reversed time any minute. I waited and waited, yet the reality never ended.
I stood there and stared at the baby pink peony in my hand. Twirling the cut stem around and around. Trevor came behind me, squeezing my shoulders.
"I never thought I'd see this day, honestly."
Paige walked over to us.
"He was perfectly normal, well, HIS normal, up until, well, yeah."
I sniffled, nodding in agreement.
"The doctor said it was more than likely his disease. He didn't see any foul play involved."
"Well if there was foul play someone would be suffering a foul fucking death!"
Trevor growled, his old self ablaze in the moment.
"Calm down, T. Lester wouldn't of wanted you to go off the deep end like this."
Michael warned.
"Was all of his business done?"
Niko asked.
"No idea, I'd have to look into it."
I sighed, pulling out my phone and connecting to his computer, which remained idle as he left it. I searched through some recent files, finding things here and there.
"There may be a few things that need taken care of. I don't know if they were just plans or were in the making, however."
"Well, I'll tell you what, I'll be in town for a bit longer if you need anything. Just give me a ring."
I thanked Niko, giving him a hug, and decided to pick up the kid and head home. We said our final goodbyes and walked away as they lowered Uncle Lester into his final resting place.

"Daddy! I hungy."
Carter whined from his car seat.
Trevor chuckled.
"What do you want, buddy? I'm sure your Mama wants takeout anyways."
He glanced over at me, but I continued to stare out the window, wondering why it had to be him. Him and not me..
"Chicken nuggies!"
Carter cooed.
"Okay buddy, daddy will get you some chicken nuggies."
Trevor pulled into the Cluckin Bell.
"Yeah give me a number 6 with extra dip and 2 number 45s, one with cheese, please."
Trevor paid for and collected our food and we headed back to Sandy Shores.
Carter had already downed his meal by the time we pulled in the driveway. It reminded me of the time when Wade and Ron got me Burger Shot after I was starved for almost a week. Again, stupid shit I should've never stressed Lester about.
"Honey, you want your food now?"
Trevor asked, taking a bite of his sandwich.
"No thanks, I think I'm going to lay down for a bit. If you need me, yell."
With that I went into our bedroom, covering my head with the thick blanket. I started to sob, attempting to muffle it with the pillows.

I had cried myself to sleep another night in a row. I woke up, eyes burning and crusty. I rubbed them with my hands and slowly sat up to see Trevor picking up laundry off the floor, something that was a pet peeve of mine in a previous mindset.
Trevor checked the pockets on the mass of clothes, pulling out a small oblong object.
"Hey sweet cheeks, what's this?"
Trevor handed me the object in which the memory came back to me. It was that flash drive I found on Lester's floor.
"Hand me my laptop, babe."
Trevor handed me my laptop, scooting in beside of me as I plugged the USB drive in. Immediately, a folder and a video popped up. I clicked on the video, which was Uncle Lester at his computer. My breathing became choppier in an attempt to hide my tears while watching the video.
"My dearest Brynleigh. If you find this, I'm probably dead. And you know I'm not the mushy gushy kind of person but, I just wanted to let you know that I'm proud of you. Two years ago, I thought you would be in jail or killed and in a ditch somewhere. Two years ago, today actually, is also when I received some bad news from my doctor. He didn't expect me to live another 6 months, but here I am, two years later, and, I feel as if it's about to be my end. That's why I sent you away, and while it obviously didn't go as I intended, you made your own way and grew a beautiful family, minus Trevor, he's not that beautiful. Nevertheless, you did this without getting yourself into much trouble. You've matured a lot, Bryn. And Uncle Lester wishes he could be there longer for you. But that's just how life fucks us, whatever divine power that may be floating up there in the heavens. Uncle Lester loves you, Brynleigh. And just know I'm proud of you.
Don't waste your valuable time crying over me. However, as much as I hate to do this with you and Trevor retired from the life of crime, I need a favor. A few favors, actually.
I uh..I attached a few documents in the folder below this video on the flash drive. These files are my unfinished business. Most are on my behalf. There is a big job on here, however, that I agreed to assist on for Martin Madrazo's boy. There will be more details in the files below. Anyways, I'm going to try and kick this scammers ass in my video game before I die, so I'm going to get off here. I know you can do this, Bryn. The torch has been passed. Make Uncle Lester proud."
With that the video ended, and I sat my laptop to the side, tears slipping down my face.
Trevor pulled me into a hug, rubbing my back, although I could tell the video impacted him emotionally as well.
"Shh, it's okay sweet cheeks. We'll figure this out."
"Trevor..we have a family. We can't be reckless now."
"We won't. Listen, I'm gonna call that Liberty City fuck up, we have Ron and Wade, maybe Michael and Franklin will pull through. It's just a few more gigs."
"Whose gonna keep the baby?"
I sniffled, looking up at him.
"We'll figure it out, honey. For now, let's get some rest. Carter's already tucked in. We'll look into all this in the morning."
Trevor pulled me in for a kiss, in which I accepted, and then tackled me onto the bed.
"Trevor!"
I giggled, pushing him off of me.
"Hey, it made you smile, didn't it? Now get you some rest before I keep you up all night making love to that sexy body of yours."
