Chapter 2 (Later that evening after practice, 6:07 pm)

Lyric fumbled with the keys Coach Michelson had left for her in the office, huffing out a deep exhale as she struggled to find the right key to lock up the gym. "Oh my god how many fucking keys does this stupid gym need" She uttered under her breath, trying a silver key that, once again failed to slide into the key hole which pissed her off even more "For fucks sake!" She exclaimed in disbelief, "It's the green one" Troy spoke up simply but also as gently as he could in an attempt to not spook her. Lyric jumped a little and she quickly spun around to face him, he was standing about a foot and a half away from her, his large figure towering over her in a shadow from the glare of the sunset. Her eyes met his and she eased up at the sight of him, smiling softly "Hi, I'm sorry, I didn't hear you come up" Lyric said quietly, "I already tried the green one." She murmured and flashed him an apologetic look for her behavior and/or language, which he only returned with a reassuring smile. "Hi...i saw you struggling, let me see it?" Troy said and gently took the ring of keys from her hand, taking a step closer to her their shoulders brushed against one another as he swiftly moved to the side of her so he could reach the door. She tried to ignore the stinging sensation of the shock his shoulder against hers had caused and now on the fact that he stood so close to her. So close she could smell a hint of sweat from practice and a spray of delicious smelling cologne from before, she removed the disgusting thoughts from her head with a subtle shake of it as he fiddled with the ring of keys. He found the correct one and pushed the green key into the key hole, which perfectly slid into place, he turned it to the right which earned a click from it, and then to the left again which earned a larger click. Lyric scoffed in disbelief as a smile spread across her face "I swear to god I tried that and it didn't work." She stated as she ran a hand over the back of her neck, she was obviously embarrassed. He chuckled, stifling a smile as he removed the key from the hole and turned to face her. "It's okay, this key is a little tricky, we have needed a new one for the longest time" Troy admitted and placed the set of keys back in her hand, Lyric just nodding and grasping the keys that lie in her hand. They sat in silence for a moment their eyes on each other but nothing leaving their parted lips, Lyric swallowed the nervous lump forming in her throat which didn't exactly work, so she cleared her throat before she spoke to break the silence "Uhm... I'm sorry for the language...I've been a little stressed out and this was irritating me" Lyric murmured, sliding the ring of keys into her back pocket and Troy laughed briefly, inserting his hands into his front pockets as he rested his shoulder up against the brick wall. "I don't give a shit about the kind of language you use around me, coach" Troy divulged, crossing his foot over the other at the ankle to relieve the pressure on his feet, his sentence made Lyric smile and then slowly but briefly scan his appearance. It went silent again for a few seconds as they watched each other, unsure of what to say. Oh my god, why is this man so deeply attractive, i can't stop staring, i really need to stop. "Uhm.." Troy began quietly, pulling Lyrics attention away from his features  "About my friend..I'm sorry that he was so.." Troy paused to think of the right word, Lyric chuckling lightly. "Horny, irritating, pretty much just a regular teenage boy?" Lyric inquired which made Troy laugh, scratching the back of his neck as he took in a deep breath "Yep, Pretty much" Troy breathed out his sentence and it went silent again for just a couple seconds until Lyric cleared her throat before she spoke, "There's no reason to apologize for his behavior again, well even though that's the only question he decided to ask i could tell by his eyes glued to my body he had much worse thoughts" Lyric stated and Troy sighed out an exhale, nodding to confirm what she assumed. "Yes, most likely, I just feel badly because i'm his best friend and it's my duty to keep him on his best behavior" Troy explained and Lyric hummed, letting it go quiet for a few seconds while she built up the courage to even question something like this. "Correct me if I'm wrong but..I'm pretty sure you had the same sexualizing thoughts that he did, based on the way you looked at me, you just had the decency to keep it to yourself." Lyric presumed, shifting her weight onto her other leg to relieve pressure from her other, which made her hips sway a little bit. Crossing her arms as it went silent. The sway of her hips caught his attention for a split second and he was stifling a smile but it eventually broke loose when he looked back up to look her in the eyes, sucking his tongue against his teeth for a moment before murmuring a quiet "Guilty" Lyric smiled as well, not able to contain it, "Who wouldn't though?" He flirted a little under a desperate breath and his eyes briefly dropped down again, his low hungry eyes scanning her appearance and his body shifting closer to her. Her eyes stayed stuck on his eyes traveling her body and her face, even when they met hers again..they both stood there in pure silence for a moment while they just ogled eachother and Lyric tried to control herself, before she cleared her throat, fixing her posture "You-.." Lyric hardly began, clearing her throat to correct her wobbly voice, "You..have a great form, Harvin, it was an honor to watch you practice today. No wonder coach said that you were his star and favorite player." Lyric complimented him and he smiled, nodding "Thank you, Coach, it was an honor to have you watch me," Troy flirted subtly, but not so subtly considering Lyric immediately caught onto his soft grin and gravely voice, pressing her lips into a thin line as silence filled the air around them, besides the doves making light cooing noises and the crickets chirping in the bushes. Her eyes fell down to her watch and they widened a little in shock, "Ah shit, I should probably get home, I need to go grab my daughter and go get the ingredients to make some dinner" She said soft and Troy raised an eyebrow, leaning off of the wall "Daughter, hm?" Troy inquired, with just the tone in his voice she could tell he was severely curious, surprisingly not frightened, and Lyric waved it off, shaking her head "I'll explain some other time, I need to get going" Troy nodded and tucked his hands into his hoodie pouch "I'm going to the parking lot too, I'll walk you to your car" Troy offered and she hid a smile behind a little gnawing at her lip, nodding a little. "My cars just around the corner" Lyric uttered and he nodded back to acknowledge her sentence, taking the first step towards the edge of the building in which she followed. The two walked side by side around the building, in silence, just each others light footsteps against the concrete to cut through the tension in the air. She couldn't handle the silence between them even though it had only been a few seconds so she decided to make conversation, with a motive of course. "So, Harvin.." Lyric began and he looked at her, tilting his head ever so slightly "You look too old to still be in school, how old are you?" She questioned and he chuckled in disbelief, his eyebrows flicking up a little because he was appalled that she thought that "I'm 17, Coach, I guess I just look old" Troy had a teasing tone lingering and she narrowed her eyes at his sarcasm, but then disappointment washed over her face, frowning when she realized what he had said. Troy cocked an eyebrow, not able to help that he grinned, widely "Are you disappointed, Sterling?" "Maybe I am, Harvin." Lyric murmured and his grin grew wider, letting the silence linger for a moment before he spoke again "Coach said it had been a while since he had coached you, most likely meaning that it's been a while since you've graduated, but you said you're only a year older than most of us, correct?" Troy questioned curiously and Lyric hummed an Mhm "Yes, and i'm 18." Lyric provided him with further confirmation, Troy raising an eyebrow. "How did you manage that?" He inquired and Lyric sighed out an exhale, taking a quick glimpse back at the building before letting her eyes shift back to the sidewalk ahead of them "I took a few extra classes to graduate in 10th grade, i had to get out of here to help with...my family." Lyric replied simply and avoided eye contact, he could tell she was being a bit deceptive but he chose to ignore it to not push her, leaving it at that as they stepped into the parking lot. She shifted her direction a little, headed in the direction of a well taken care of 87' navy blue ford mustang. Troys eyebrows lifted up a little bit in shock, his mom had one just like that but it wasn't so well taken care of, and it was a bright orange. When they approached her car their walking began to slow until they were at a dead stop beside it, she turned to face him, their body's only a foot apart once again "Thank you, Harvin..I'll, uhm, see you tomorrow" She whispered and he held back a smile, giving her a nod "See you tomorrow, Coach" Troy took a step backwards and another, then another before he turned, heading across the parking lot to a red, beat up 93' Volkswagen corrado. She snorted a little and covered her mouth with her hand, stifling her laugh into it, He held his pointer finger up into the air as he approached it "Not a word about my girl or that is the last thing you will ever say." Troy threatened playfully, but in a way not exactly so playfully because he was dead serious, and she laughed, sliding her left hand into her back jean pocket and opening her car door with the other, tossing the ring of keys into the passenger seat "Yes sir." She murmured as she slid into the drivers seat.
