Behind The Mask

Adventure City

     The sun was slowly rising above the horizon. The Paw Patroller was still on the highway and driving next to the beautiful view of the sunrise over the ocean. A sliver of light was already starting to cut the darkness. Luckily, Ryder has been able to get a good amount of sleep while Robo-Dog mostly keeps its eyes on the road.

Ryder walked over to Robo-Dog and smiled as he patted it's head, even though it was a robot, Ryder always treated it like an actual animal.

"Thanks so much for looking after us, bud. I don't know what I'd do without you." Ryder said with a grin and Robo-dog responded with a happy bark and then the doors slid away from each other, revealing Chase walking in.

"Morning Ryder." Chase yawned.

"Morning Chase, I thought you would be asleep right now." Ryder mentioned, a little surprised to see Chase waking up early, while he usually does, but this was way too early.

"Meh, it's nothing really. Anyways, are we close?" Chase asked while walking up to Ryder, wondering if they were any close to Adventure City now.

"Just two hours away and we'll be there." Ryder said and Chase slightly smiled and then the ten year old boy got up and began walking to one of the cabinets of the truck.

"I'll prepare you some breakfast." Ryder said and Chase happily wagged his tail.

"Thanks." Chase said and looked back at Robo-Dog.

"You're a real one, Robo-Dog. Thanks so much for driving us." Chase said with a grin and put his paw out for a paw-bump and Robo-Dog happily extended his robotic paw as well and met Chase's followed by a happy bark.

Ryder smiled as he heard the exchange and pulled out Chase's bowl and looked back and noticed Chase was fidgeting with the necklace he's wearing right now.

"You seem to really like that necklace." Ryder said with a slight chuckle.

"Yeah, but there's more to it." Chase said with a proud smile.

Flash Back

"It wouldn't be his allies or regular people fearing him. It would be his enemies and all the other people who tried or have broken the rules. A dog that could strike fear to a whole group of bad guys. That alone shows how strong he is."

Flash Back Ends

Chase warmly smiled at that thought and looked back up at Ryder.

"Hey, Ryder? If it's okay, do you mind If I look for that statue of him sometime when we're in Adventure City?" Chase asked, obviously referring to Kamato and Ryder gave it a second thought and smiled towards his favorite pup.

"Of course. I would actually like to check it out sometime to." Ryder said and Chase grinned at him.

Soon, the rest of the pups and their parents have woken up from their slumber and Ryder prepared breakfast for all of them which they happily ate. Chase ate his breakfast next to Skye which earned a glaring glance from Axel which didn't go unnoticed by Edan. Later, they all went on to do their own things as it was still going to take some time to get to Adventure City.

Axel was sitting at the end of one row of seats, looking out of the window while everyone else was doing their own thing and his daughter and his wife were playing with the others. Edan took this chance to talk to him. He walked up and hopped onto the seat next to him, starting a conversation while looking out of the window.

"Is something wrong?" Edan asked as he glanced at Axel.

"No? Why?" Axel asked in confusion.

"Man, it's kind of obvious. I've seen the way you've been looking at Chase. Is something wrong?" Edan asked, and when he mentioned the police German Shepherd, Axel slanted his eyes which meant that Edan hit the nail on the spot. He sighed in defeat and Axel spoke up.
