"Klaus!" Isadora called excitedly, rushing out of the Fowl Fountain to embrace her best friend.
"Izzie," he said quietly, his voice cracking. He hugged her tightly, never wanting to let go of her.
She pulled her head back a little and cupped his face, then leaned forward and quickly kissed his lips. He froze, surprised by the kiss, but then smiled and kissed her back. It was a slightly longer kiss this time, and deeper than the first. They pulled away after a second though, as their siblings were right next to them.
"Ew," Duncan muttered, looking away from the two of them.
Violet giggled and hooked her arms around his neck. "Oh, shut up," she said, then crashed her lips onto his.
However, the sweet reunion of the friends was broken up by the shouting of the angry townspeople, who believed the Baudelaires were murderers. Duncan and Violet pulled away from each other, and Klaus grabbed Sunny, then they took off running again.
