Landscape + Environment
Bismortia is an average country, dressed in forests, farmlands and little towns, with cities sparsely dotted in between the rural blankets. There are hills and mountains breaking up the landscape and spawning rivers and valleys to the North-West; this is where most of the mountains are concentrated, but moving to the South-East the ground is quite flat and marshy, spotted with wetlands. Thankfully, the forests are fairly dense and have not been changed too much by the Bismortians and are still bustling with natural life.
Bismortians
The people of Bismortia are further back technologically than our world would be, despite being in the same age as our world. They are aware of things such as the internet, but they are not as common place of things nor are they as saturated in daily life for most people. Adding to the theme of that, the country is ruled solely by a monarchical system. Currently, the king is a man known as Aurhen, but we will hear more of him in future chapters. He is running things fairly well, but is notorious for the public executions he arranges. In the public eye, it is probably one of the most notable thing about him, along with his ostentatious nature.
The majority of the population speak only English, but the dying language of Bismortian still burns in some populations. Though this is true, it is on the brink of dying out completely. The reason for the decline in the language is unknown, but people have suspected that English was merely a more favorable and useful language compared to the other, and the fact that for most of its history it was not a written language. Still, it is rather odd that it declined so fast..
Bismortian is quite similar to old/middle Celtic languages, and may even be confused by some people for Welsh, Breton, Cornish or some form of Gaelic. The alphabet and pronunciation are practically a mirror of them, but make no mistake! It had not developed anywhere near Celtic/human languages; it is worth noting that the area in which Bismortia resides is populated entirely by sentient objects in place of humans. Earth-like animals are still found, with seemingly no differences to their earth counterparts. What would happen if you studied and compared them on a scientific level? Would they be the same creature? Who knows.
Interestingly, magic is not a foreign concept here; there are quite a lot of magic users. These magic users are also the Bismortian speaking majority, and usually keep to the deeper parts of the forest. Whether this is a coincidence or not, it is clear their solitary has an effect on the language survival.
Economy
Bismortia's economy is mainly supported by its mining and farming communities, mining mainly fueling the cities and larger towns. It is not notably rich or poor, but there certainly is a line dividing the wealthiness of the people of the cities and the towns. Its income is not supported much by tourists (mainly for the reason that no one chooses to go/is allowed there), leaving it fairly stable and predictable all year around with no dramatic rise or fall of profit around the summer months. One of the most stable economic grounds is the capital city, which for now will remain unnamed.
