Ọya looked at her husband, well she would call him her husband even though they never officially married. Ọya was too much of a free spirit to be tied down in marriage. She didn't doubt her love for Ṣàngó, but being one of his wives wasn't something she had on her bucket list.

She knew her husband wouldn't be able to keep whatever was worrying him to himself for much longer. Especially if it concerned the empire. After all, it was her job to protect it as much as it was his. He couldn't forget that even if he was her husband, she still was the keeper of his Ede.

3rd Person's POV

Abiola woke up drenched in her own sweat. This was the second time the voice had tried to call out to her, but today's episode came with a weirdly specific dream that she was still trying to decode.

Abiola was never one to remember her dreams, they were usually forgotten within the first few minutes of waking up but each moment of last night's dream was engraved in her mind and she was sure that the voice, the dream and her new found powers had a sort of connection. She could feel it.

Back to Abiola's POV

I stepped into the shower letting the warm water wash away the anxiety I felt from everything that was currently happening in my life. I sang along to Cat and Dog by TXT, using my shower liquid bottle as a makeshift microphone. I had probably spent 20 whole minutes in the bathroom and decided it was enough when the water began to get cold.

I looked through my closet for what to wear and decided on a pair of shorts and a grey sweatshirt hoodie since I'd be lazying about for the whole of today.

As I walked down the stairs I heard voices I did not expect to hear.

Increasing my speed I nearly fell but I needed to confirm that my ears were working properly.
And my mouth was left agape from viewing the scene in front of me.

My dad and Lucas were sitting at the table, a plate of pancakes in front of each of them and their mouths laughing at something I wasn't aware of.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

What was Lucas Boyd doing in my house?

And more importantly, why did he look like he and my dad were old time friends that hadn't seen each other since secondary school?

My hand was still on the stair railing and my mouth open like a fish out of water when both their eyes turned towards mine.

"Abiola you're finally awake, this young man came over about an hour ago. You didn't tell me you had a group assignment to do, see how you kept him waiting and why didn't you tell me you had such cultured friends Do you know he likes Lana Del Rey as well?" My dad said with his moustache twitching the way it usually did when he was amused.

"Mr. Akinyemi, don't blame Abiola, it was my fault, I thought I would come an hour earlier so we could get more work done." Lucas replied jovially back to my father.

I didn't even understand, see the way they were going on like besties about a plan I wasn't aware that I had made.

I decided to go with whatever scheme Lucas was planning in that head of his and apologize for my so called 'latenness'.

I sat for breakfast listening as Lucas and my dad went on about everything from sport to music to politics. I just sat there eating my pancakes and watching them wondering what Lucas had done to my Yoruba father.

"Ododo mi, Lucas had already asked my permission to take you out for your Biology practicals and although I had my reservations at first, I can see you're in good hands." My dad said after we had cleared up the dishes.

That sneaky bastard! He went behind my back  and asked my dad for his permission although he knew my plans to...
Okay! Granted, I had no plans but he could have at least asked!

I just nodded my head, while secretly planning Lucas Boyd's death in my head.

A/N

Hey! Hey! Hey! Guyssssssss
Yes it's me, the CEO of late updates!

So, the ending and major plots have already been drafted but I still need to plan out all the twists and turns that lead us to where we need to go. That's why this chapter took so long to post, it's a pretty important chapter crucial to understand Abiola's story and this is where the mythology and Abby's story start to mix!

I'm really excited for the rest of this story to unfold but that deadline of December that I gave myself... Lemme not say anything just yet.

Update:(Lol...)

Sha, you people should thank Cinmisola for helping me overcome my writers block. This chapter wouldn't be here so fast without him so you people should better check out his stories because they're awesome. You can find them on my reading lists or like, just go to his page directly 😃☝️.
