[y/n's pov]

I woke up in an empty bed, the sheets dragged over the side. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, the remains of last night coming back to me.

I looked around for Miles but he was nowhere to be seen. I climbed out of the large bed and checked his room; he wasn't there.

I started to panic until I came across him downstairs on the sofa. It was just the two of us and was extremely awkward. I sat down in silence, staring at my feet.

He coughed and I glanced up just to make intense eye contact with him.

He held his stare and I backed down, glancing away.

I only realised I was biting my nails until Miles told me to stop. I timidly put my hand back down.

"So um, how old are you?" I managed.

"17." He answered back rapidly.

"Oh cool." I said and stayed quiet after that.

"So do you not go to school or some weird shit?" He questioned.

"Um well, I did, but I stopped going." I replied.

"Why?" He pushed.

"Cause of, problems. At home. And at school."

"What kind of problems?" He asked firmly.

"Just, you know, the usual. People, and money. Stuff, like that." I got uncomfortable quickly.

"Were you financially struggling?"

"Just stop, asking questions please. I don't like it." I burst out.

"Jeez sorry." He sighed.

I breathed deeply.

"Fuckin' hell." I heard him mutter.

My head shot up.

"You're not to use language like that you know."

"So what? It's just us two."

"It will influence you in the future. You might slip up in front of Flora like you've done many times already."

"I don't care. You're acting like you don't do it." He spat.

"That's because I don't."

"You don't cuss?" He laughed.

"No.." I looked down, embarrassed.

"So you're what, 17, and-"

"16." I interrupted him.

Silence.

"Sorry." I apologised.

"16, and you've never sworn? Ever?"
