Wrong Turn, Right Path

Chapter 16 Nate's POV

She then says "I think Maddie had the same dream. I overheard her talking to Selene, Heather, and Shay the next morning. She told them she had a dream with two Nicks but she called one Daddy and the other Papa. She also said I was in her dream and I had a ball under my shirt."

"Maddie told me about her dream last night when she saw Nate sleeping by your side." Nick said.

"What does this mean? How is it that we all had the same dream?"Jemma asked

"Well like you were told before, we were created by the Moon Goddess. She rules the night so oft times when she wants to get a message to us she does so in our dreams. We've come to realize if our dreams are very vivid and lucid that those dreams are messages from Her especially if it engages our other senses like smell and touch." I say.

"Oh, Did you have one of those dreams last night?" She asked quietly.

We both shook our heads before I asked "Why do you ask?"

She let out a deep sigh before saying, "I had another one of those dreams last night." although she seems hesitant to share anymore than that.

"You don't have to tell us if you don't want to, but if you are willing to we would love to hear about it." Nick says. He's always been fascinated with dreams and the meanings of them.

She nods and takes a deep breath "Well it started with the night I found out I was pregnant. The night my college sweetheart and Maddie's father broke up with me over text. Then it shifted to where I was standing in a field of clovers. Then he appeared next to me. He told me he was sorry that I had to do everything on my own but I didn't have to be alone anymore. He said that you both were who I was meant to be with and to not punish you for his mistakes. Then he disappeared. When I turned around you both were standing there waiting for me. I had to choose if I was going to walk to you or walk away. I didn't understand what all was going on or what I should do then I heard a woman's voice say 'Go to them' so I walked over to you guys and held your hands and when I did, I woke up holding both of your hands." she said her eyes shining with unshed tears.

"Who's Maddie's father?" Nick asks. I guess he figured she mentioned him first so it was a fair question.

"According to the birth certificate, unknown." she said with as light smirk but pain in her eyes.

"But that's not the truth." Nick pushes.

She let out a heavy sigh, "Like I said, we were college sweethearts. We dated for about six months had even talked about marriage. I was in love with him and thought he loved me too. But then he had to go home for some family emergency. He texted me when he got there telling me he loved me. Then nothing. About a week later I took a pregnancy test and well we all know what the results were. When I went to tell him he said.... He said..." She paused as silent tears started to roll down her cheeks. I wanted to find that son of a bitch and hurt him for hurting her.

We reached out and wiped her tears before she continued, "He told me to quote, 'get rid of it, I don't want it and I don't want you.' worst part of it all was that he did all this over text because he refused to answer the phone when I called and would send me directly to voicemail."
