That's a good thing right? It seems like a good thing that she woke up even for a little bit.
Doc says it is but I'm still worried about her. I've tried praying to share my life force but it doesn't seem to be working this time.
Alright, I'll be there as soon as I'm done.
We're in the medical wing, just follow her scent you can't miss it. I can hear the smile in his voice.
I dropped my bag on the bed and pulled out a fresh set of clothes before going into the bathroom and turning on the shower. I didn't even wait for the water to warm up I hopped right in and started scrubbing my skin and hair. That was probably the fastest shower I have ever taken while still cleaning thoroughly. I stepped out and dried quickly throwing on the jeans and tee shirt that I had laid out.
I made my way down to the medical wing and Nick was right. I could smell her honey and vanilla scent and Rune howled in my head. I wanted to sprint down the hall but if she was awake I didn't want to freak her out by bursting into her room. She may know we are werewolves, she may know about mates but she doesn't know that we're hers or that she's ours. I stop in front of her door and raise my hand to knock but before I can connect to the wood it opens. I was hoping to see Jemma but instead I see Nick staring back at me with his finger to his lips indicating to be quiet as he steps aside to make room for me to enter.
My world stopped, there she is laying in the bed her strawberry blonde hair fanning out around her head in a shimmering halo that catches the light from the lamp next to her. She still has some bruising on her face but they are faded and should be gone in the next few days. I didn't register moving but the next thing I know I am standing next to her bedside just looking down at her. She. Is. Breathtaking.
Beautiful isn't she? Nick says through link
That's the understatement of a lifetime. I can't tear my eyes away from her. I feel Nick's hands on my shoulders pushing me to sit in a chair that he's pulled up for me.
You look like you are about to pass out. Sit down before you fall down.
Thanks It wasn't until this moment that I felt how tired I actually was. I was so focused on getting to this exact spot that I pushed everything else aside. Now that I'm here all the exhaustion came crashing down on me. I reached out and gently held her right hand. The moment we touch the shocks shoot up my arm and straight into my heart and I sigh. This is home. Jemma sighed in her sleep as well and ever so slightly grips my hand in response.
I didn't want to leave her alone but now that you're here I'm going to get us all food. I nod my head as I hear the door open and close behind me.
For the first time I am alone with my mate. I see the wires leading from the neck of her shirt to a machine that is monitoring her heart rate. Another machine is controlling the flow of fluids into the IV in her arm. I don't know why but the prayer Nick told me about pops into my head. I reach forward with my other hand and sandwich her's between them. I bow my head resting it on top of our joined hands and say quietly "Goddess, if you are listening, hear my prayer. If it's possible, take some of my life force and heal my Jemma."
