Chapter 5 - Nate's POV

"Nick and I have decided to officially look for our mate." I replied. I told him about our plans to search the neighboring packs but use his and Mitch's packs as our home bases.

"Why now? Why not when the weather is nicer and travel is easier?" He asked watching my reaction.

"Do you remember Layla?" I ask feeling quite proud that I didn't grimace while saying her name.

"Ugh, that skanky She-wolf? I wish I could forget her." He said emphatically and was that shame in his eye?

"What do you mean by that?" I ask out of curiosity.

"You can't tell anyone if I tell you." He said

"Holy Shit! You slept with her!" I said shocked

"Well... There wasn't a whole lot of sleeping involved." He cringed as if the very thought disgusted him.

"When did this happen?" I was hoping it wasn't after he met Amber. I would beat the shit out of him for hurting her that way.

"The last summer I visited when I was 18. She kept trying to catch me alone, she would rub against me as she walked by and do just about anything to catch my eye. But I knew she had been around the block a time or two already and I didn't really want to mix with that. Besides I always thought she had a thing for Nick even though he was clueless to her crush. Anyway one night she snuck into my room and woke me up in a very.... nice way and one thing led to another." he downed the rest of his beer like he was trying to wash those words out of his mouth and the memory out of his mind. "After that I left for college and promptly forgot about it. She texted me a few times but I pulled the 'who's this' even though I knew who it was I just didn't want anything to do with her. She gave up and moved on. I'll tell you what that girl is hunting for a luna title. I have seen her make eyes at every unmated Alpha she comes into contact with. Wow, that was a lot to throw out there, sorry man. By the way, why did you mention her?" he asked while grabbing another beer.

"Well because she is up to her old tricks. Ray overheard her telling her sister how she was planning on baby trapping Nick to get the Luna title." I tell him.

"But to baby trap him he would have to be fucking her." Jackson said confusedly, "Wait, please tell me Nick isn't stupid enough to be fucking her, is he?" he looked doubtful.

"They have been on again off again for the last few years. He even tried to talk to me into seeing if she and I could have something too. I told him to fuck off and I wouldn't touch her with a 10' pole let alone my pole! She isn't our mate and I don't want anything to do with her" I almost gagged at the thought of my hands on her body.

"So why was he even suggesting it if she's not his mate?" Jackson looks a little worried.

"I think he is scared to have a fated mate so he is looking for a chosen one." I admit.

"Can I tell you a story that you have to swear to secrecy?"Jackson asks seriously.
