Chapter 5 - Nate's POV

Start from the beginning

"Jackson!" Amber exclaimed while slapping his arm, "That wasn't very nice."

"That may be, but it's true." He said before stuffing a piece of bacon into his mouth.

She was about to say something else when I interrupted, "Thank you for letting me stay here for a while."

"Oh, that's no problem at all. We hope you are successful in your search." Amber said with a smile.

The rest of the breakfast was like old times. Amazing food, lots of laughter and storytelling. Anytime a she-wolf walked by I would sniff and every time I was disappointed. I didn't know what I was expecting, it's not like she was just going to fall into my arms as soon as I walked in the door but I was really hoping that we would find her sooner rather than later.

"Unca Nate! Unca Nate!" the little voice of Malcolm rang through the dining hall right as the little ball of energy that looked just like a mini-Jackson launched himself into my arms.

I laughed as I caught him and immediately threw him into the air making him squeal and giggle and his Momma gasp. I caught him and smiled, "How are you doing little alpha?"

"I'm good. Mommy has a baby in her tummy." He says with a smile

"Are you excited to be a big brother?" I ask as we walk out of the dining hall with me carrying him.

"I'm gonna help Mommy. But no diapers." he said while scrunching his face making us all laugh.

"Come here munchkin let's give Daddy and Uncle Nate some time to talk while I change you out of those messy clothes." Amber says while reaching for Malcolm. She kisses Jackson on the cheek and whispers in his ear. I block it out because I really don't want to know what she is saying but based on the look in Jackson's eyes I have a pretty good idea.

He watched his mate carry their son up the stairs with so much love it was almost sickening to witness, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to feeling exactly the same way as he was right now.

He clapped his hand on my shoulder, "Come on, let's go to my office where we can have some privacy, and a drink."

I laughed as he led me down a side hall "We just ate breakfast and you are already reaching for a drink?"

"It's either I get a drink or I leave you standing in this hall and rush up those stairs and grab my mate to"

"Okay, okay, okay!" I exclaim while holding my hands up in surrender, "I don't want to know what you would do. Let's go get that drink."

He laughed as we entered his office "Just wait until you find your mate." He shut the door while I walked over to the mini bar. I grabbed a couple beers from the small fridge and gave him one. "So to what do I owe the pleasure of this mid-winter visit?" He asked while he popped the top and took a sip.
