GOT7'S HONEY COMES BACK FROM "HIATUS" AND DISCUSSES MENTAL HEALTH, MEMBERS' SOLO PROJECTS, AND PLANS FOR THE FUTURE

Last night, Got7's Honey found herself trending at the #1 spot on Twitter, due to going live on Instagram for the first time in 8 months.

Earlier this year, Honey and her fellow Got7 members left her former company, JYP, after spending nearly 16 years with the company. Three days later, she signed an exclusive contract with P Nation. Then a month later, she released her second studio album, Dynasty.

After promotion for the Dynasty album ended in March, fans were confused when Honey had stopped posting on social media and doing Instagram lives in the following months. Honey had always been known as an artist who loved interacting with her fans and friends on social media. So, when this suddenly stopped, fans became worried.

Questions over Honey's whereabouts remained unanswered until fellow Got7 member, BamBam replied to a fan on Twitter about Honey in May.

Honey wouldn't be seen publicly until May, when she was seen leaving her apartment with group mate and roommate, Yugyeom. Fans were excited to finally be able to see Honey but this only furthered confusion around the whole ordeal. It would't be until late November when fans got to see Honey once again, when she appeared in a surprise Instagram live.

Honey began the live by addressing where she's been and apologizes for causing any kind of concern. She opened up by saying quote, "I'm sorry for the confusion and concern I've caused these past few months... The beginning of this year was really rough for me, mentally. I thought releasing an album and really diving into my work would pull me from that mindset but it didn't and ultimately made it even worse... I know abruptly leaving probably wasn't the best method but as someone who isn't great at expressing their emotions, and doesn't like to feel vulnerable, it was hard for me to even acknowledge or accept how I was feeling. So, once again I am sorry."

Honey went on to confess that throughout the past 8 months she suffered from severe depression and barely ever left her apartment. She added that the only time she did leave, was when Yugyeom practically forced her too. She then went on to say that after a couple months of feeling at her lowest point, she eventually decided to reach out for help through counseling and says she still frequently goes. Honey didn't go into detail about some of the things weighing on her mind but she did say, "Ever since I was a child, I always kept my problems to myself for fear of burdening other people with them. I think I just got to the point where I couldn't do it by myself anymore. I just felt like I was going to explode."

As the live continued, Honey then began to discuss her members saying, "I have been monitoring the members' work. I think they're all doing so well. They've all really been a great source of support to me through everything and I just don't know what I would do without them."

The comments then became flooded with questions regarding Honey's relationship with long-time boyfriend, I.M of Monsta X. Although Honey didn't fully discuss her relationship status she did say, "I think my favorite song right now is Rush Hour from Monsta X. It's really good." She then smiled while giving a thumbs up which seemed to give fans some hope that the two were still together.

Honey then ended the live by talking about her future plans, "As of right now, I'm slowly getting back into that creative mindset but I just ask that everyone just please be patient with me. I only want to return to you all as someone with a healthy mind and heart."

We're happy to see Honey is doing ok, and we can't wait to see what she has planned for the future!
