Chapter 10

Tracer closed the oven and walked towards the couch, Emily was sitting on the couch scrolling through her phone, "Oh is the pizza done!" She said with a smile, Tracer sighed "No give it like 5 more minutes". Emily frowned at the news going back to her phone, "Hey I did some research into Talon and there's some pretty suspicious stuff going on there" Emily said. Tracer sat down next to her, "Really like what?" Tracer replied. Emily let out a sigh "Where to begin, Some of their students have been linked to underground activity, the school had an incident where its student body had a flourishing gang called "Deadlock", The principal himself got caught in a human trafficking scheme!" Emily finished with surprise, Tracers face was filled with disgust "Seriously?". Emily nodded "Vice Principal Reyes made no comment but from what we can gather he had no involvement" Tracer leaned back "Man why did Mr.Morrison let them into the school" Tracer questioned aloud. A knock at the door surprised the two, Tracer got up to investigate, opening the door she was surprised to see the metallic figure standing there. "Genji! Hey, what are you doing here so late?" Tracer asked. Genji rubbed the back of his neck "I uh, wanted to come clean" He said quietly. Tracer leaned against the door, "What's up?" Genji took a deep breath "I haven't been the best person" He let out, "Most of what Fareeha said to you is most likely a lie" Tracer didn't respond letting him continue. "The only people who were friends to me were Lucio, and Brigitte. And even then I haven't talked with her for like years." Genji let out a sigh "I had no idea she told you that stuff and i wanted to tell you so that you knew the truth" Genji stopped talking letting her absorb the information. Tracer smiled at Genji "Genji, even if she hadn't lied to me, I still would have been your friend" She said, "What the old you did doesn't matter to me, you've been a great friend" Tracer said. "You pushed me to join the track team, you hung out with me even after you were forced to. You've been a good person and if you weren't I would have called you out on it." Tracer smiled as she opened the door the rest of the way. "Now come on in, I want you to meet Emily!" Tracer said inviting Genji in for the night

The students' fall break came and went, filled with falling leaves and pumpkin spice.

Tracer stepped into the hallways of Overwatch and knew even from just her small time being there the vibe was off. Everyone seemed on guard not to mention a few of the students actively cursing at each other. Principal Morrison seemed not only tired but he was also desperately trying to stop the students as he could. Tracer walked up to the Veteran "Hey is everything ok?" She asked Morrison, Morrison let out a sigh "Just stressed about the new students Tracer don't worry" He responded. Before Tracer could respond a gruff, deep, and raspy voice came from their side "Hello Morrison" It said, looking over Tracer saw a tall man wearing black pants tucked into boots, a snug fitting charcoal grey shirt, a trenchcoat, and over his mouth and nose he was wearing a black face mask. Morrison straightened up "Hey Gabriel" He said "There's no need to be formal" Gabriel chuckled "Just wanted to have a good first impression on the students" He looked over at Tracer his eyes seemed cold but intriguing. "Ah this is the student with the Chronal Accelerator" Gabriel said staring at the circular piece of machinery on her chest. Tracer stood silent as the man started reaching out towards the machine, seemingly wanting to inspect it until Morrison grabbed his hand stopping him. "Tracer, why don't you head to class" Morrison said, Tracer did exactly that walking towards class pushing that interaction to the back of her head, she had a big day ahead of her; her first class was "Hero Ability Training" It was so important that it took up two whole classes. She walked towards "Training Room 2", arriving she opened the door, seeing a room packed with some familiar and unknown faces. There was one that she knew all too well "Hey Genji!" She said waving approaching him, Genji seemed like he was studying the people there until Tracer interrupted his thoughts. "Oh, Hey Tracer, what's up?" He asked Tracer stood by him "Why did you look so serious just now?" Tracer questioned Genji looked to the right of the room "See the guys standing there?" Tracer looked to her right and saw a variety of people standing near the side of the room. "Next to the wall" Tracer asked, Genji nodded "Their all from Talon, Besides what we've seen from them for sports we have no idea what kinda stuff they'll be able to pull" Tracer examined the people there. Two guys and three girls, most of them were talking amongst themselves except for one boy. He was staring at everyone almost as if he was studying them before battle. Soon the multiple conversations stopped as Winston made his way through the room "Hello everyone! Welcome to hero ability training!" He said looking through his clipboard. "It seems everyone is here, So! Just so we're all on the same page, this class is about working on your specific abilities and talents, specifically for combat." He said the class listening intently. Winston set his clipboard down before looking back at the class "Any questions before we start?" He asked. One lone hand raised from the Talon group of the room "Are you a talking Gorilla?" a boy asked. Winston didn't think twice "Yes from space" He replied "Any more questions?" The boy looked as if he was going to have a migraine as the rest of the group just shook their heads in shame. After no more questions came up, Winstion looked into the crowd calling three people up. Angela, Eric, and Reinhardt stepped up into the middle of the room. "The training here can get dangerous so here are a few supervisors to help out! Would you like to introduce yourselves?" Angela stepped up "Hello everyone! My name is Angela and i'm a Junior Hero here at Overwatch" A few of the students looked confused before Angela clarified "A Junior Hero is when you've finished the class materials here at Overwatch but haven't had enough experience to join the real hero program." Angela kept talking about her qualifications as a doctor, as well Eric spoke too but made it quick and sweet just saying that he's a tech developer and that he's here to watch over the class while Reinhardt simply said he was excited to see their powers.

Winston stepped back up correcting his glasses, Running through his clipboard he nods "Everyone filled out their forms correctly" He remarked before nodding at Reinhardt, Reinhardt got up retrieving a large stack of paper passing them out to the class, Tracer received hers. The stapled packet featured everyone in the class's first name and a short description of what they could do. Tracer found herself and found a short sentence under her ability section "Personal time manipulation." Tracer thought about it more. "I'm going to have to change that to incould a plus one" her mind went back to that night with Emily. Tracer flipped through the sheets, finding not only Genji but Honzo as well. His ability reads as a Shimada Dragon with brackets describing his energy enhancement abilities. Honzos read similarly. The rest of the abilities were simple enough, until Tracer got to the last page seeing a Bracket type of format with all of their names. Winstions cough got everyone's attention. "As some of you might have already seen, there is a bracket on the last page, and that is our activity for today." The class started to whisper to each other Before being silenced by Winston. "Yes today there will one on one fights, it'll all be in good sport and both Eric and Angela are doctors so no one should worry about being injured" The class got rowdy as they discussed who was going to fight who "Now if everyone will back up against the wall i'll have the first to fight step up" Tracer looked at the page and listed for round one it stated in pitch black ink "Tracer vs Amelie Lacroix".
