Time Skip; Next Day-

As predicted, Steven is still the same he was yesterday. The talk with Amethyst and Garnet didn't seem to help...So while Steven is outside, Greg, the gems, and I were talking inside.

"-Come on, can't you give it another shot?" Greg pleaded.

"What are we supposed to do? He just doesn't want to talk about it." Amethyst said.

"But...I know it's not space lag. This is some Gem thing he knows I won't understand. I don't know anything about Homeworld. I don't know anything about your society. Whatever horrible things he saw out there, you guys have to put it into context. BT would help, but we believe it would make Steven more uncomfortable since he doesn't know her like you guys do..." Greg explained.

"If Steven won't talk to us, then the help we can give him is limited. We've all tried to coax it out of him, except for..." Garnet turns to Pearl as their sentence trailed off.

Pearl seemed shocked, "-Me? But I have no idea what Homeworld is like now."

"I can tell you the basics, all you really need to know is that Steven was put into trial. He and the Diamonds talked, he escaped with Lars, and I happened to follow behind them." I spoke.

They went silent for a minute, "Pearl, please. Just talk with him." Greg pleads broke the silence.

"Yeah, he knows you know about space stuff."

"It can't hurt to try." Garnet encouraged.

"You've got this, Pearl." I also encouraged her, but with more emotion.

She nodded and walked to the door to talk to Steven. Greg, the gems, and I that sat inside eavesdropped on Steven and Pearl's conversation. I know it's bad to eavesdrop on others, but I wanna see if Steven is okay, what he's thinking so I can also try and help in some way.

From inside the house I heard Pearl begin, "Heh..It sure is quiet out here, huh?"

"Yeah." Steven replied.

"-So...Homeworld...I always hoped you'd see it some day, but I thought I'd be there with you. Being taken there...as a prisoner, I suppose it was something of a...traumatic experience...?" That's a bad way to start.

"...-It's just..." I heard shifting, I believe Pearl had sat down, "-Steven. I'm sure you have a lot of questions you'd like answers to, like about the Diamonds, for instance? There are things that are...impossible for me to explain. But I want to. I-" Pearl was suddenly cut off.

"-Steven, I-" She stops herself abruptly again.

"-Connie hates me!" Steven bursts out, finally saying something about why he's actually upset.

"...Wha?" Pearl was confused, looks like she didn't see that coming.

Greg, Garnet, and Amethyst pushed past me and went outside, I followed.

"-We weren't listening." Greg starts.

"Please- continue, Steven." I ignore Greg's comment and ask for Steven to continue.

"I'm not upset about what happened on Homeworld- although- yeah- a lot of that was really messed up..-But my relationship with Connie is even more messed up. I left him behind to go to Homeworld after promising we'd face everything together. I'm sure I really hurt her. I've been calling and texting her for a week, but she hasn't responded once." Steven rambled, and soon started to tear up.

"Connie might never talk to me again." After his final sentence, he ran away crying.

"-Steven!" Me and Garnet called after him.

"I'll go get him. I don't know anything about Homeworld, but I know about this." Greg began to run and search for Steven.

Time Skip; Dusk-

"Go, go, go!" Steven commands.

"Okay."

We were all in the van driving to the highest point the van could go because of Steven's phone. Something about 'bars' for his phone.

"Floor it!"

Greg steps on something and the van begins to drive faster, "How are we doing?" Greg asked Steven.

"Take a right!" We took a sharp right.

"-Nah, back up- No, wait! Keep going!"

Up ahead, we spot a cliff, "We're heading for a cliff, buddy!" Greg warns.

"-Just a little further..."

"Gonna have to stop soon!"

I've heard that if humans fall from a high enough place, they can die.

"Almost got it!" Steven shouted as Greg began to shout out, "Ahh!"

Greg stops the van just before we fall off the cliff. He sighs in relief as Steven climbs out of the van and onto the roof of the van.

"Come on! Come on!" Steven held his phone up in the air, "Yes! We've got service!" He shouts in glee.

Steven gasped as he looked at his phone, "Steven! When I didn't hear back from you, I was sure a nefarious plot was afoot-" A voice from Steven's phone erupted, but cut off.

"-Well?" Greg questions.

"...No, no messages from Connie."

Greg and I climbed up onto the roof of the van and sat down beside Steven, he fell over his fathers lap in remorse.

"-Aww. You'll get through this, buddy. I know it hurts now,but...give it some time." Greg tried to cheer him up. I nodded in agreement with him.

"I know. I need to let it go."

The Gems then peek up at the top of the van, "Got room for three more?" Pearl asks.

Steven looks over at them and smiles tiredly, "Always."

They climb up and get comfortable, we look up at the night sky in admiration.

"You know, from the little time I've been here...I really like planet earth, it's so beautiful." I say.

Steven nods, "That's great, I still need to show you more though. We haven't even covered the subject of animals."

"...Thanks for letting me be a part of the Crystal Gems. Really, thank you."

"No problem, BT."

"No problem..."
