allison thought about faye's words, "you like him, don't you?"

faye just looked at her, that was enough.

———

currently, selene and vinnie were seated in one of vinnie's cars.

it'd been days since vinnie had seen faye, as well as kara. he couldn't help but think that even besides him and faye's mess there was something wrong.

anyway, as the music played and they sat together simply thinking off into space, vinnie felt guiltier than ever.

turning his head, he analyzed selene's features. why couldn't he just like her and stop putting himself through unnecessary shit?

breathing out he finally decided on one thing, "i cheated on you, selene."

silence.

not complete silence, though, as the music flowed between them. it only lasted a short while before selene turned down the volume and turned to him.

"what?"

"i cheated on you. emotionally, that is. almost, physically."

selene scoffed, "what does that mean?"

"i like faye, selene. and her and i almost..." he trailed off

selene looked at him, "hm," vinnie screamed internally, the fuck does that mean? "i know you like faye, vinnie. it was quite obvious."

"the fuck do you mean you knew?"

"now don't get too rowdy, you were gonna cheat on me remember?" selene taunted, "but in all honesty, i was doing the same thing."

vinnie was beyond confused now, "still. what do you mean you knew?"

"when faye told me she was with someone this summer, after a while, i started connecting the dots. you two were so familiar and it was clear that there was something going on. but i couldn't afford to lose you, so i played along. being clueless was fun, actually. but there were times where you felt so detached that i couldn't help but be a little upset."

vinnie wasn't sure if he felt terrible or stupid, it was a mix of both.

vinnie shook his head, "so what do you mean you were doing the same thing?"

selene let out a breath, "i've been seeing kara for a while," vinnie's eyes might as well have popped out of his head, "i know, i know. but like i said, i couldn't afford to lose you. my dad, he'd never, ever, put up with that. so i used you as a facade and kara stayed my little secret." she let out a pathetic laugh and vinnie realized she almost began crying.

she continued, "at first our encounters were strictly, uhm, physical. but after a while it was clear that we both meant a lot more than just that to each other. but i'm afraid my cowardice has made me lose her, anyway."

silence.

it might have been selfish to ask but vinnie couldn't stop the words from coming out, "so where do we go from here?"

———

after school, kara and faye lay on the floor of kara's living room. laying in silence as they stare up at the ceiling in front of them.

"kara," faye began waiting for her friends signal to continue

kara hummed, "what?"

"i know you've been seeing someone." although it's just them in the house, faye says it quietly like the confession should belong just to them.

"oh,"

"is it selene?"

there's a beat, it's obvious that kara was still listening and as faye waits patiently the silence almost answers the question for her.

"yeah,"

now it's faye's turn to hum, "is that why you've been so upset lately?" kara mumbles an agreement under her breath and faye asks another question, "do you love her?"

for this, faye actually looks at kara. she's able to see that her friend is actually thinking about the question, her lips perked and eyebrows creased.

a second later the girl shrugs, "i think i might," that's enough for faye, "do you love vinnie."

"i think i might,"
