I should have known
that trust is the greatest weapon
when placed upon my own.
I should have seen
what was coming. Because I know
it wasn't what it's been.
I should have laughed
at his words. Instead I cried.
As all my insides ached.
I should have let it go
as I realised he was nothing,
neither a friend nor a foe.
I should have done a lot of things.
Instead I stand here, drowning
in all the pain it brings.
