42. reunited

the next day, taehyung had woken up a sleepy jungkook quite early in the morning with excited screams.

"comeon alpha, wake up-- dont you wanna see the surprise?" taehyung was nearly jumping on the bed, trying his best to wake up a grumbling jungkook.

"why so early?" the alpha srunched his nose before turning the other way on the bed, a hand still on taehyungs waist to steady the excited omega.

and a few more minutes of whining and threatening with "if you dont wake up now, no kisses for the entire week" later, taehyung had successfully managed to wake up jungkook- them both freshened up and dressed for the day.

taehyung had dragged jungkook to the stables, asking the alpha to get his horse ready. seeing the wide smile on taehyungs face, jungkook couldn't help but feel excited even in that chilly morning.

they had first rode to the settlement where the villagers lived; making sure everything is alright, making small talks with hana and hwasa and few others they know.
even if hana was feeling guilty at first, taehyung had assured and thanked her for her bravery and for saving him- so now they both had warmed up to each other again.

the kings were much happy to see the happy smiles of villagers, most of them already starting a livelihood there and also with the building of their own homes.

as the alpha steered the horse farther, taehyung had gone silent, a bit tense as he looked up at jungkook and pointed the ways to this supposed "surprise" on which the omega was so excited about earlier.

on their way, many of the baekje people would stop by their horse with bows, some even taking sweets to give them to the pregnant king.
jungkook would accept the packets with polite smiles, only allowing taehyung to have them if its from people they know before and trust.
from the hard things they had went through, jungkook was always a step ahead, thinking a bit more just to make sure nothing would ever cause a harm to taehyung or their pup.

they had passed quite some distance now, jungkook wondering what taehyungs plan is but never voicing it out,

"stop here-" taehyung had softly said and jungkook obeyed, getting down first and later lifting off taehyung carefully.

after the horse was secured by a tree, taehyung took the alphas arm until they walked a few more steps, then stopped outside a hut.

"cherry?-- why here?" jungkooks asked, much confused.

taehyung just smiled at him, then his attention diverting when a middle aged woman, an alpha, had stepped out, her eyes widening seeing the guests.

"your majesty" the woman had bowed.

"no-- its fine doyun-ssi" taehyung quickly assured, urging the woman to stand straight.

the woman obeyed, her eyes then nervously shifting from taehyung then to jungkook. the alpha, even though had no clue on who she was, gave her a kind smile.

"alpha-" taehyung had then turned to jungkook, his voice kind and soft, a hesitation in his eyes.
"i probably shouldn't have done this without your knowledge-- but i didn't want to disappoint you if--" taehyungs voice trailed, nervous.

jungkooks eyebrows furrowed,
"what is it, tae?" the alpha asked, feeling rather anxious at the way taehyung was speaking.

"doyun-ssi here--" taehyungs face flitted to the woman, whose eyes now had a light sheen of tears,
"she is your mothers sister"

just as the words left taehyungs lips, the alphas head had shot towards the woman, who was smiling at them with teary eyes.

"are you--? really?" the alphas voice was clogged with emotions in an instant.

then it was array of disbelief- jungkook hugging the woman as she cried onto his shoulders-

"i can't believe you're alive-- we thought we lost all of you that day-- you grew up so well" the woman had sobbed out, jungkook still in a trance wondering if all of this was real as he hugged and consoled her.

taehyung watched all of it from afar.
it was hard to find them- taehyung had gone through the past records to find the family, then collecting whatever on jungkooks past they know from namjoon and yoongi, then conforming it.

taehyung wanted to do this for his alpha, for he knew how much jungkook had longed for his family. even if jungkook had lost his closests, taehyung believed his relatives could be alive.

the omega didn't intrude on the emotional reunion- doyun excitedly inviting jungkook in, introducing everyone in their home to him.

jungkook had grown up as a loner with no family. he thought he could never experience that feeling ever.

but here he was now, the alpha with a huge bunny smile on his face despite his eyes shining with tears was introduced to his uncle, grandmother, his cousins, a nephew-

the family eventhough have seen jungkook before, never knew he was their own blood until taehyung one day showed up in their house.

"you have her eyes-" jungkooks halmeoni, a very frail woman in her eighties, her voice quivereing had put a loving hand on jungkooks hair when the alpha crouched down and this time jungkook couldn't keep in his tears.

the family bonded well, taehyung watching from afar with fond smiles on how jungkook had bounced his two year old nephew in his arms while the baby squealed in delight.

and then the alphas eyes had found taehyungs.

jungkook had carefully put down the baby, before taking fast steps to the omega, pulling taehyung into his arms and hugging the other so hard.
"thankyou cherry--" the alphas voice was strained,
"what did i ever do to deserve you?" the alpha mumbled as he kissed the others neck, tears freely falling from his eyes onto taehyungs shoulder.

that question is the same taehyung used to ask himself- on how he got so lucky to have jungkook in his life.

the alpha had rescued him from the worse of it all, showed him what it is to be loved, to be cared for, to be happy.
jungkook is his whole world and there is nothing more he wants than to see his alpha be happier.
