I wake up early, at 4 or 5
And hop in my car, ready to drive
I go to first class and learn how hammers are used
And do my presentation on various tools
The framers scoff, asphalt! That trade is useless!
Just learn to frame houses, you guys are clueless
The heavy civil guy laughs, knowing he'll one day be rich
He has an internship in building bridges, and he builds them quick
The commercial student stays prideful and quiet
Building hospitals is cool, but it's best to stay silent
The teacher just shrugs, understanding their pride
He once was like them, but retired. He now teaches at fifty five.
