Ch. 5 I.E.D.

"Yukimura! Get over here!" Coach yelled. Ayla stood up, both her and Piper watching the exchange. Kira ran over to the man, pulling off her helmet. "Take a seat. You're benched for the rest of the game," he told her.

"What? Why?" she asked.

"You didn't pass," he told her.

"I had an open shot," she reminded.

"The play was for you to pass. This is a scrimmage, it's about teamwork, Yukimura. So, you're benched," he explained.

Kira glanced back towards Scott, knowing he had been expecting to have her help during the game. Now him and Liam would be the only two supernaturals on the field with a professional killer. But she walked over to the bench as asked.

"Boo!" Piper yelled.

Coach turned around to glare at her. "Do not boo me, Sloan," he told her.

"Boo!" she yelled louder. He just huffed and turned back to the field.

The game seemed to be going fine, surprisingly. At least till Brett, Liam, and Garrett- the one they suspected had killed DeMarco- collided. Ayla heard something snap on impact, but it was impossible to tell which boy had broken a bone. The crowd gasped as all three rolled to the ground.

All the players rushed to them as both Liam and Brett groaned in pain. Scott and Stiles ran over to Liam, pulling him onto his feet. Everyone else went to Brett, who was still groaning on the ground. "What's happening?" Piper wondered. Ayla shrugged, using her werewolf hearing to try to figure it out.

"How hard did you hit him?" Scott asked his beta.

"I didn't," Liam replied. "He hit me."

Ayla frowned as she took in that information. "What is it?" Piper asked her.

"I'm not sure yet," she admitted.

"What do you mean you're not sure?" Piper wondered.

"Give me a moment to focus," Ayla snapped.

"On what?" Piper asked.

"On what I'm missing," Ayla replied. She took a breath, watching Brett being dragged off the field. She closed her eyes and the image of a searing hot wire flashed in them.

"Ayla, you're scaring me," Piper admitted.

The she-wolf turned towards her, anxiously biting the inside of her lip. "Watch the game. If the others ask, tell them I went to check on Brett," Ayla told her.

"You're going by yourself?" Piper asked.

Ayla sent her a look. "What? Worried about me?" she wondered.

"Yes," Piper told her, the concern clear in her voice.

The Hale frowned, placing a hand on her friend's arm. "I'll be right back, Pipes," she assured her. It didn't seem to do much to ease the other girl's nerves, but Ayla just walked off in the direction she had seen them take Brett.
