Scott looked at her. This was the first time they had ever talked about this. He knew that she had stayed in Beacon Hills for a reason, but he wasn't vain enough to actually believe he was one of the primary reasons. "What do you think?" he wondered.

Ayla shrugged, considering her words. "I don't know. It is a little poetic, I guess? Believing that maybe this is where I'm supposed to be. That all the tragedy was just supposed to lead me here. That for some reason there was always just something pulling us towards each other. Would kind of explain why I let you get away with so much crap," she told him. Both managed a laugh at the last part.

"That's... that's fair," Scott agreed.

"Whatever the case, I still stand by my belief that if fate's real, she's a bit of bitch to me," Ayla said. Scott rolled his eyes in amusement and Ayla couldn't help but smile herself. "Maybe not always, but part of the time," she added.

The two looked at each other for a moment, before they both leaned closer to each other. Scott moved one hand to her cheek, pushing her dark hair out of her face to kiss her. Ayla moved her hands to the back of his neck, while his other hand found her waist to pull her closer to him. Their lips moved in sync as they tried to forget the last few days for just a moment. Neither wanted to be the first to pull away, knowing that when they did, they would be back to failing to find a way to save their friend.

They were breathless when they did finally let themselves pull away. "Uh, it's getting late," Scott reminded.

"Yeah," Ayla agreed, looking at the floor to try to hide her pink face.

Scott stood up, knowing he probably needed to leave before the two continued in the direction this had been going. "I guess I need to get home," he said, taking a step towards the door.

Ayla caught his hand, praying she didn't regret the next words out of her mouth. "You could stay," she offered.

Scott turned to look at her, not sure how serious that offer was. Ayla bit her lip. "Piper stole my cat back, and I don't really like sleeping alone lately," she admitted, not meeting his eyes. She was embarrassed that she had even offered to let him stay.

But Scott just nodded. "Okay," he agreed. Ayla didn't meet his eyes as he kicked off his shoes. She pulled her legs up onto the bed and laid down and Scott moved around to the other side to lay down next to her. He wrapped his arms around her waist as the two laid together in silence.

"We'll save him," Ayla whispered.

"Yeah," he said, kissing her on the cheek. The two then slowly drifted off to sleep.

The sound of Ayla's beeping phone woke both werewolves the next morning. Ayla rubbed her eyes, before glancing behind her. Scott's arm was still wrapped firmly around her waist. She managed a small smile as she saw the other werewolf rubbing sleep from his eyes. She was pretty sure they had slept in later than they probably should've, but it was also the first time she had slept well in weeks.

She grabbed her phone off her nightstand, frowning as she saw all her messages. "What is it?" Scott asked, noticing her expression.

"Lydia and Aidan," she told him, turning to face the alpha. "They found Stiles."
