I get to the door of the classroom and I can see through the small glass window that the class has just started. I can't force myself to open the door, I'm stuck, I'm so nervous I think I might puke. Just as I'm about to bail the door flies open.
"Hello" the tall man opens the door from the inside, I can see everyone looking at me already and I can feel my blood rushing to my cheeks, my palms are sweating and I'm paranoid everyone can tell so I stand off to the side so I can't see into the room.
"Are you supposed to be in here?" the man asks, his face is clean, his skin looks soft, he must moisturise, his voice is deep and loud it shocks me. "Yeah I am, I think..." I begin to say, he lets go of the door and shouts "well don't just stand there taking a seat" and points to a chair that's free.
I look around the room and see that it's not just new students. In here, I see his friendly face at the back of the room and he gestures for me to sit beside him.
I quickly walk past the rows of students and take a seat beside jack.
"Hey" I said, "thanks for letting me sit here." I smile at him faintly.
"Hey.. um" he pauses then He laughs softly "are you ever going to tell me your name?" He asks.
Had I forgotten to tell him when he first spoke? How could I forget that? That's basic human interaction. Damn anxiety. I snap back and see he's looking at me now puzzled by my long pause, I have to remind myself to breathe, but then I look at him, I really look at him, he has this light brown hair , really blue eyes and lips that looked incredibly soft, he's actually very nice to look at but I break my stare and look back at my notebook already filled with equations that I don't understand.
"its Addy." I tell him quickly and without cause for more conversation but he trys anyway.
"So." he begins, I cut him off "look it's my first day and I really need to pay attention I'm not very good at this stuff anyway" I said soft but firm.
That's the strongest sentence I've said all day.
I'm really not one for conversation especially with someone that looks like him, I'm not getting involved with someone else's boyfriend.
The lesson dragged on and I'm sure I felt him staring at me from time to time but I pull my hair out of its ponytail and used my semi straight hair to form a barrier.
The tutor said "okay guys that's it for today! See you Wednesday"
I left my chair without looking at him, but as I reached the door I heard his voice above the rest "it was great talking to you then Addy." I hear him laugh and it overpowers every other voice in that room, you can't miss it.
