I moved quickly and brought my gun up. I pulled on the trigger as bullets began to fly out of the barrel quickly. The Soldier jumped back up and back on to our car as the bullet missed him and hit the driver instead. The hummer spun out of control before slamming against the guard rail. I turned around and watched as the Soldier slammed his metal arm through the roof of the car and pulled out steering wheel.

"Shit!" I heard Sam yell, realizing he no longer had control of the car. The Soldier jumped and flipped above me. Landing on a another car that was tailing us. I stared as he stood up slowly. It looked as if his eyes didn't leave mine.

"Layla! Take Sam!" Steve yelled. I turned around and phased my body back into the car. The car began to jerk around hitting other cars. I grabbed Sam and wrapped my arms around his neck. I felt another slam as the truck hit the back of the car. The car slid onto the railing before slamming back down.

Steve grabbed Natasha as he kicked the door of the car, holding the shield in front of them.

"Hang tight Birdie. Its going to feel weird." I said. I felt Sam wrap his arms around my waist. I quickly tossed my gun out the broken window before focusing my energy between the two of us. I felt as both bodies phased through the car door before slamming onto the railing beside us. We both groaned in pain as we stood up.

"You're right. It did feel weird and not in a good way." Sam complained.

I looked over as our car began to roll down the highway. Steve and Natasha managed to kicked the door out during one of the rolls. He held Natasha tightly as they both fell onto the door and slid across the bridge. Cars swerved around them as the slowly stood up. I looked to my other side as the car carrying the Winter Soldier stopped. He jumped down from it and grabbed another gun.

"Get down." I yelled at Sam and we both dropped to the ground. We both covered our heads with our hands as the Soldier shot a grenade towards Steve. The grenade exploded against Steve's shield, shooting him backwards and off the bridge. I quickly sat up and grabbed my gun. Bullets began to hit around us. Sam, Natasha and I ran across the bridge. I ducked behind a car with Sam and held tightly to my gun.

The bullets ricocheted off the car in front of me as I quickly repositioned and stood up aiming the gun towards the enemies. Bullets flew by as I aimed at everyone but  the Winter Soldier. If this was a chance it was Bucky then I wanted to make sure I didn't kill him. I managed to hit three out of the six before ducking back down.

I took a deep breath as I looked back up. The Soldier kept walking forward holding his grenade gun. I looked at Sam and he blocked his face from the glass shattering around us. I needed to get the Solider focus away from Sam.

"Sam take my gun." I said as I handed it to him. I quickly reached back and grabbed the pistol from my jeans. He looked at me like I was crazy.

"No wait." He fought back.

"Just do it and cover me." I yelled. He nodded as I quickly stood up. I ran as fast as I could across the bridge. My eyes locked with the Soldier's goggles. Just as I thought he followed me as the others stayed back. I ran past cars as I watched him aim his gun at me. His finger pulled the trigger as a grenade shot out towards me. I phased my body through the bridge and fell to the ground. My legs buckled under me and I rolled forward before catching myself.

I hid behind another car as I watched the Soldier peer over the bridge. He scanned the area before taking his sight onto the car I was at. I quickly stood up and shot a couple of shots towards him. I heard a slight shatter above me, like glass breaking. The Soldier fell back behind the wall as I ducked back down.

Please tell me I didn't kill him. I needed to be sure at least. If not my mind would go crazy. I looked back up as he stood back up onto the bridge. This time his goggles were off. His eyes locked with mine and once again he stood and stared. I felt my heart begin to race. The same eyes. Just like Bucky's, but these looked angry and dead inside.

He flipped his legs over the bridge before landing easily on the car below him. His eyes still not leaving mine. I quickly got up and began to run into the city. I kept looking behind me. He continued to walk quickly as he began catching up to me.

I weaved through the cars before looking back once more and seeing he was no longer behind me. I dropped down and crawled under another car. I grabbed my mouth as the sound of footsteps from heavy boots began to get closer and closer. I tried to steady my breathing as the boots stopped in front of me.

I watched as they walked around the car slowly. He checked to see if I was on either side of the car. I heard them step away as I let out a sigh of relief. I was being stupid getting him to follow me. I didn't stand a chance against him in this type of arena.

Suddenly, a cold metal wrapped around my ankle. I felt my body drag across the ground before being thrown against the car. A shock of pain shot through my back as I slid down the side of the car. The Soldier grabbed the collar of my shirt and slid my body up against the door and into the air.

I tried my best to claw my way out of his grasp but I was no use against the metal. His eyes locked with mine once more. I looked deeply into those steal blue orbs. He tilted his head as if trying to read something on me.

"Who...who are you?" He asked softly. I felt my heart sink as the voice though low and missing emotion, still sounded familiar. I looked at him as his eyes began to scan my face. As if there was an answer written on them. His eyes glared as he let go of me. He stepped back a little bit as my body fell back down to the floor.

I looked up at him unsure of what to do next. He still just continued to stare as if he had forgotten something. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes tightly. My head began to feel like it was splitting again. I shook it off before looking back at him. It was now or never.

"Bucky, is that you?" I asked softly. His eyes twitched as if reacting to the name. They began to shifted around the area before locking back to me.

"Who the hell is Bucky?" He asked. Before I could say anything a large body ran by me. He noticed it to as he brought his metal arm back and pushed it forward. A loud ring surround us as Steve  jumped back, shield in hand. I quickly ran out of the way as the two began to fight. I didn't need to be standing there.

I stood by another car as I watched them battle it out. They were evenly matched. Definitely someone with super soldier serum running through their veins. The conversation kept repeating in my head. Just like last time he pulled away from hurting me. I jerked my head as images began to flash in front of me. I felt as if I had seen this fight before. Not with Steve but with someone else.

Don't let them notice you remember, please....

I wont, ace. I promise....

I heard my voice echo in my mind, but who was the other voice. It sounded dark and scary, yet almost familiar. I scrunched my face as my head began to pound. I lifted my hand up and held onto my head as I continued to watch the fight. The Soldier grabbed out a knife and flipped it around effortlessly against Steve.

I scrunched my face again and shut my eyes. The pain in my head getting more and more prominent.

I'm sorry. I'm here now. I promise.

I shot my eyes open as more images came flooding in. Every single on of the Winter Soldier but none of it in full detail. I looked up as Steve managed to grab the Soldier by the face and flip him to the ground. His mask fell off and he rolled before repositioning himself. I ran up behind Steve as the Soldier stood back up. He slowly turned his face towards us.

Its you and me forever, doll...

I gasped as my breathing stopped. I scanned the face closely making sure I wasn't imaging it. The same perfect blue eyes. The chiseled jaw line. Though his hair had gotten longer the within the context it was familiar now. Everything was him. It wasn't a trick.

James Buchanan Barnes was alive.
